Stranger Things season 4 has proven to be the scariest of them all! The way Vecna kills his victims and the overall tone of it is like we’re watching a mini horror movie. This was what the Duffer Brothers, aka the creators, wanted and they’ve made it all work so well.

The kids are now in high school. And so the older they are, the more mature the monsters and darkness they’re dealing with is going to be. At least that’s the Duffers’ reasoning. And I definitely agree. It makes sense!

Vecna has probably been the scariest monster of them all. He has an interesting backstory, and we got a large part of his origin story in season 4 part 1. But in case you need a refresher, we’ve got your back!

Who is Henry in Stranger Things season 4?

This season, the creators decided to throw a big twist and revelation that I don’t think anyone really saw coming. We first meet Henry Creel in episode 4, “Dear Billy.” He and his family move to Hawkins into the Creel House. Strange things begin to happen and the family believes there’s a demon in their home.

We learn it was a young Henry, who has psychokinetic abilities like El. But unlike the little heroine, he used his powers to psychologically torture his family, eventually killing his mother and sister. His father, Victor Creel, is framed for the crimes and driven into madness.

Henry has a hatred for humanity, believing it’s a species of corrupted, power hungry parasites. That’s why his motivation is to reshape the world to his own design and become the predator himself.

After that horrible night at the Creel House which he caused, he goes into a coma and wakes up to find himself in the hands of Dr. Brenner. The scientist marks him as test subject 001, but he later becomes a guard at Hawkins Lab. While there, he’s able to manipulate El into removing the neck chip that suppresses his powers and tracks his location.

In an epic showdown between El and Henry in episode 7, “The Massacre at Hawkins Lab,” Eleven is able to send him to the Upside Down after he kills all the staff and children at the lab. And that’s when the big twist comes in! Not only is Henry 001, he’s also Vecna!

He’s able to take control of the Upside Down and become the spooky creature that he is. And without giving away spoilers, we learn a little bit more about how he came in control of the alternate dimension in volume 2. So stop what you’re doing and go watch the finale!
