Alfons Hörmann (*1960) was elected President of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) in 2013. Before that he was President of the German Ski Association from 2005 - 2013 and President of the Bavarian Ski Association from 2002 - 2005; President the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2011 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen from 2006 - 2011 and Vice-President of the Organizing Committee of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf from 2000 - 2005 as well as Chairman of the Allgäu Ski Association from 2000 - 2002. He also served as Vice President for Marketing of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) between 2006 and 2010.
In his professional life, since 2010 Alfons Hörmann is responsible as CEO of the Hörmann Holding, consisting of more than 20 subsidiaries with about 3'500 employees which is divided into 2 business units “industry” and “communication”. For more than 30 years he has been working for market-leading companies in the construction materials industry in Germany.
Alfons Hörmann is married, has three sons and lives in Sulzberg/Allgäu, Germany. In his free time, he keeps fit skiing and Nordic walking, and is active in various voluntary positions.
