Biography

Thiago Nascimento da Silva received his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University, USA, and joined the ANU's School of Politics and International Relations in 2022. Prior to coming to the ANU, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Mannheim, Germany. His research focuses on comparative politics, with an emphasis on political institutions and political economy. Thiago's research projects have addressed the dynamics of coalition governments in presidential and parliamentary democracies, policy-making processes, and political and economic inequalities. In his recent research, Thiago also examines the consequences of coalition governments on voter behavior and party competition, and the role of the opposition on coalition governance. Thiago's work has been published or is forthcoming in the American Political Science Review, the Journal of Politics, the European Journal of Political Research, Political Science Research and Methods, Legislative Studies Quarterly, the Sage Handbook of Political Behavior, and others.
