ASK ABOUT TELEMEDICINE!
Many insurance plans are now offering coverage for telemedicine visits during the COVID-19 crisis in order to reduce in-person visits, while still providing access to much-needed care. Telemedicine visits are virtual encounters (via a PC, tablet or smartphone) with our nurses and physician where you can present your concerns and receive a diagnosis and a treatment plan. We are currently scheduling telemedicine visits for many chief complaints, including acne, rosacea, rash, suspicious skin lesion, hair loss, psoriasis, eczema, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), among others. Please call us at (515) 987-0333 to set up a telemedicine visit with us.
HOW COVID-19 AFFECTS YOUR VISIT
We are strongly encouraging all eligible patients to take advantage of telemedicine during the current pandemic. However, we realize that some urgent needs must be addressed in-person. Our front office will discuss our new protocols with you prior to your visit. To protect our staff and our patients, we are asking that all patients are in good health at the time of service (no fever, cough or other symptoms), have not been in contact with anyone who has any symptoms or has been diagnosed with COVID-19, and have not traveled outside the country in the past 14 days. If any of these apply, we will address your concerns with a telemedicine visit or ask to reschedule your appointment for a future date. When at our clinic, we request that you observe appropriate social distancing protocols. In addition, to reduce the risk of exposure to our staff and our patients, we will ask that you complete necessary paperwork online and electronically provide us your insurance information via a secure encrypted email initiated by our office prior to your visit. We also ask that no visitors or non-patients accompany you to our clinic unless absolutely required (e.g. a parent accompanying a minor).
HOW WE ARE MANAGING THE COVID-19 CRISIS
The safety of our patients and our staff is our paramount priority. We have adopted numerous interaction and sanitation protocols that meet or exceed the recommendations of the American Academy of Dermatology. In addition, we are shifting as many appointments as possible to telemedicine to reduce the number of in-person interactions without sacrificing quality-of-care.

Why see a board-certified dermatologist?
There are an increasing number of alternatives for patients seeking medical and cosmetic skin care in our community. This makes it confusing for patients who are seeking the very highest standard of care for their skin needs. Whether you are seeking cosmetic skin injections or are worried about a suspicious skin spot or rash, you deserve the best in care which can only be delivered by a board-certified dermatologist. Board-certified dermatologists have completed 4 years of medical school, 4 years or residency and internship training, and have completed exams given by the American Board of Dermatology. Look for the letters “FAAD” (“Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology”) after your doctor’s name to be sure or visit aad.org/findaderm.
With skin cancer incidence rates soaring, it’s time to get serious about your skin care. It’s time to see a board-certified dermatologist.
