  • Multi instrumentalist and award winning singer songwriter, Alex Clare hails from the UK capital, London. This soulful, alternative rock/electronic dance music crossover artist is making waves with his own brand of music that sets him apart from the rest, somewhere down the middle of that road, beyond the mainstream.

    Multi instrumentalist and award winning singer songwriter, Alex Clare hails from the UK capital, London. This soulful, alternative rock/electronic dance music crossover artist is making waves with his own brand of music that sets him apart from the rest, somewhere down the middle of that road, beyond the mainstream.

    Alexander George Clare who decided to adopt his stage name, Alex Clare in 2010, which replaced his original stage name, Alexander G. Muertos, landed a recording contract with the Island label in the UK following a lucky demo submission. It was his debut album entitled, “The Lateness of the Hour”, released on July 11th 2011, produced by Mike Spencer and Major Lazer that catapulted this British singer songwriter, but unfortunately not enough the first time around. The album wasn’t a success so he was ruthlessly dropped from the label. However at the start of 2012, “Too Close” was featured in a series of Internet Explorer 9 advertisements, gained popularity and found itself in the charts of numerous countries on a transatlantic scale. He landed another recording contract with Universal Republic for his efforts and was nominated for a Brit Award for Best British Single at the 2013 BRIT Awards. He released an album called “Three Hearts” on August 11th 2014, which features his latest single, “War Rages On”.

    He has collaborated with acts such as Sub Focus on a song called “Endorphins” which became a top 10 hit single in the UK in 2013, and Rudimental on their track “Not Giving In” which became a top 20 hit in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. His talents have earned him many accolades and worldwide success; most recently the ASCAP “Songwriter of the Year” 2014. His live shows are personal explosive and intimate performances of his stellar writing setting a good example to aspiring artistes all over the world with his never-give-up attitude.

    I'm sure many people, including myself, first heard Alex Clare belting out his anthem "Too Close" on an Internet Explorer commercial. I remember how there was so much hype at my school about that song. No one knew who this mysterious Alex Clare was or where he came from - he literally just popped out of nowhere. Hearing his powerhouse of a voice live was such an unforgettable moment that I can't believe I actually got to experience.

    Alex Clare's debut album, "The Lateness of the Hour," impressed me so much. The songs are filled with his raw, powerful voice accompanied by dub step and synthesized tunes that keeps the listener interested. One can really feel the emotions that he's feeling through his voice, especially in the song "Sanctuary." The lyrics in his songs are so cleverly crafted together as well. I got to see Alex Clare on the third day of Lollapalooza last year. He even played a new song of his on the guitar. He was full of smiles, and he smiled directly at me and my friends! His band was super tight, and they had the coolest transitions in between songs. At one point, they just played music for a little while, and it was kind of like a mini intermission. Also, Alex Clare had a keytarist who looked like he could be A$AP Rocky's brother :). When they played my favorite song of his, "Up All Night," it was a different but still cool version of the original that had the crowd dancing to the beat. He said that the crowd was the largest he's ever played in front of. However, I hate to say that my friends and I were part of the minority who actually knew his other songs (besides his single) and we weren't just waiting for the show after him to start. But on the bright side, I know for a fact that he won thousands of new fans that day with his sick beats and amazing voice. When "Too Close" came on, the whole crowd lit up in excitement upon recognizing the familiar tune. Hearing everyone belt the chorus, Alex Clare pointed his microphone out towards the crowd with a huge smile on his face. I am so glad that I got to witness that moment in his life.

  • WOW what a gig. If you think the albums are good, wait until you hear them live!!! And what a nice bloke too - really interactive with the crowd and super smiley lol.

    Incidentally, his support act, Luke Quinn - absolutely amazing too!! Don't wait for alex Clare to come on before you go in to the venue, well worth supporting Luke too - he's gonna be big!!!

  • Absolutely fulfilling, a brilliant array of his songs, some old and new. We even got the treat of some acoustic tracks!! Simply amazing. I hope I can see him again soon. A nice crowd, too.
