We understand that with the rapidly changing updates on travel restrictions and cancelled or postponed public events, everyone is in different places when it comes to doing what is best for you and your family. We cannot stress enough that we believe in responsible and safe travel. Travel is who we are, and it is important to us that you feel confident when choosing and staying with Choice Hotels®. The information below outlines some of the ways in which we are working to give you peace of mind, amid the novel Coronavirus spread.

Reservation policies

Guests with existing reservations made prior to July 10, 2020
If you booked a future stay with Choice Hotels before July 10, the policies that were in place at the time of booking will continue to apply to your reservation.

Guests with new reservations made on or after July 10, 2020 for arrival dates before September 30, 2020
When booking direct with Choice Hotels on or after July 10 for arrival dates before September 30, you will be able to modify or cancel the reservation within 24 hours of the arrival date with no modification fee or cancellation fee. However, reservation changes are subject to availability and rate differences. Reservations with pre-paid rates, such as our Advance Purchase Rate, are non-cancellable, non-changeable and non-refundable.  If you’re not sure if you booked a cancellable rate, please call 877-424-6423.

Guests with new reservations made on or after July 10, 2020 for arrival dates on or after October 1, 2020
If you book direct with Choice Hotels on or after July 10 for an arrival date on or after October 1, the hotel’s individual cancellation policy that’s in place at the time of booking will apply. 

Notes regarding our policies
This policy does not apply to group reservations, guests who booked using travel agents, online travel agencies or other third-party channels (Please see booking rate rules and contact group organizer/booking provider directly for more information). This policy does not apply to reservations at AMResorts properties, including the Zoetry, Secrets, Breathless, Dreams, Now, Reflect and Sunscape brands. Other exclusions or exceptions may apply. Please refer to the property’s Rate Details for applicable terms or exceptions, if any, when booking or changing reservations.

Your Choice Privileges® loyalty points

We know you have a lot on your mind during this period of uncertainty as it relates to COVID-19. That’s why we have paused Choice Privileges points expiration for our most loyal customers until December 31, 2020. This update will allow Choice Privileges members more time to redeem points and achieve greater flexibility when planning future travel. We understand that earning and maintaining Elite status for 2021 is also important to many of you. As the current situation evolves, we will continue to evaluate opportunities around Elite status and will keep you updated on all loyalty program changes through our website.

Commitment to Clean

Your well-being is top of mind for Choice Hotels and at our thousands of independently owned and operated locations. The Commitment to Clean initiative builds on Choice Hotels' long-standing cleanliness protocols and enhances the existing program with guidance developed in response to the pandemic, including recommendations related to deep cleaning, disinfecting, hygiene, and social distancing.

Over the next few weeks, guests may experience a growing variety of new and improved cleanliness protocols, products and communications, including:

  • Heightened cleaning protocols for high-traffic areas such as the front desk, fitness centers and pools, as well as other high-touch surfaces throughout the hotel, using hospital-grade disinfectant approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to combat the spread of COVID-19.
  • Furniture arrangements designed to encourage appropriate social distancing in accordance with CDC guidelines.
  • Changes in breakfast offerings, with many hotels that provide breakfast replacing their buffet with pre-packaged breakfast items.

Choice Hotels' complete approach to infection prevention includes a close association with Ecolab, who is helping ensure the company has the right infection prevention programs and training in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. This includes a new online resource hub available to franchisees, featuring operational best practices, training and resources from Ecolab's industry-leading experts. Additionally, every Choice-branded hotel will designate a "Commitment to Clean Captain," each of whom will complete applicable best-in-class cleanliness training and will be responsible for incorporating the new protocols into their hotel's operations. Housekeeping Upon Request

We’ve redesigned our housekeeping program to promote an uninterrupted stay and give guests more options. Choice-branded hotels are providing housekeeping services upon request for shorter visits and after every third night during longer stays. Guests can call the front desk to request more frequent housekeeping or ask for additional towels, toiletries and linens when needed. Housekeeping Upon Request may not be available at all hotels.
