Suspected mastermind of Delhi's biggest robbery shot dead in encounter with Meerut police

The deceased Shiv Shakti Nadu was allegedly involved in multiple cases of robberies and extortion in Delhi. He allegedly masterminded the biggest robbery in Delhi in 2014.

Meerut: In a major success for Uttar Pradesh police, the kingpin of Delhi's Naidu gang was allegedly killed in an encounter with Meerut police on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Shiv Shakti Naidu. 

According to reports, Naidu came to Meerut's Vaishno Dham Colony along with his accomplices with an intention to murder a property dealer. 

Murder intention of property dealer 

Naidu was gunned down inside a building in Kankerkhera area of Meerut city. The suspect was said to be the mastermind of Delhi's biggest robbery in Lajpat Nagar in 2014. Naidu along with his 13 associates had robbed a south Delhi based businessman Rajesh Kalra of Rs 7.69 crore near Defence Colony. 

It is also said that Naidu had looted an SUV on Delhi-Dehradun highway on Monday. The location of the looted vehicle was traced to the Vaishno Dham Colony in Meerut. As the police reached the spot, there was an indiscriminate firing from a house. Naidu was arrested in an injured condition after half-an-hour of encounter. He later died during treatment.

Kalra has suspected links with cricket bookies. Following the arrests of Naidu and his associates earlier, Delhi Police claimed to have recovered around Rs 4.69 crore. 

Naidu used to run his extortion racket from jail. He was released on parole but went missing. He had a dispute with his associate, who wanted to kill a Delhi Police informer.

Police officer injured in the encounter

According to a report in news agency IANS, a Daurala Circle Officer (CO) Jitender Sargam was injured in the encounter and was rushed to the hospital. The latest reports also suggest that a bullet also grazed through the bulletproof jacket of Meerut SSP Ajay Sahni. 

Naidu was also allegedly involved in plotting the murder of Delhi Police Special Cell officer Lalit Mohan Negi. 

Naidu had a bounty of Rs 1 lakh on his head.
