Checking-in with AirAsia the traditional way? Here are some tips that you need to know, before you make your way to the airport.
- Upon your arrival at the airport, look for your AirAsia check-in through its monitors.
- Follow all the airport’s security protocols.
- Once you’ve arrived at the counter, queue up, and wait for your turn.
- When it’s your turn, show your AirAsia ticket and valid ID to the check-in counter’s agent.
- Wait for the agent to print your boarding pass, with your seat number.
- Go to your designated boarding area.
AirAsia web check-in
Don’t want to queue up at the counter for your next AirAsia flight? Guess what? You can save a whole lot more time by using AirAsia’s web check-in services. Plus, it’s free, hassle-free, simple, and can be done within a couple of minutes. To top it all off, it’s pretty convenient since it can be done anywhere with internet access.
Important notes for AirAsia web check-in:
- Web check-in is available for groups with up to 50 guests per booking.
- Web check-in is available from 14 days up to an hour prior to the departure for AirAsia flights (DJ, I5, Z2, PQ, FD, QZ and AK) and up to 4 hours for AirAsia X flights (XT, XJ and D7).
- Anyone who’s traveling to an international destination with AirAsia is required to validate their Kiosk/Web boarding pass at the self check-in counter of the airport. Even if you’ve finished checking-in online, your boarding pass will be considered invalid, until it’s stamped as validation proof.
- You can select or change your seat with AirAsia’s online check-in service.
- Don’t have a printer? With AirAsia web check-in feature, you’ll get a 2D barcode on your smartphone, and scan it at one of their kiosks at the airport. Alternatively, you may receive your boarding pass through email. Then, you can save a copy of it, and print your boarding pass later.
Web check-in process:
- Log on to checkin.airasia.com.
- Select your departure, and key in your booking number.
- Select the name of the guest that you’d like to check-in.
- Pick a seat or purchase add-ons (optional) and enter your details for payment.
- Select how you would like to get your flight boarding pass – via email or SMS.
- Print your boarding pass or use the 2D barcode.
- On the day of your departure, bring your boarding pass to board the plane. If you have luggage to check-in, drop it off at the baggage drop off counter. Otherwise, walk over to the documents check counter, to have your documents verified.
AirAsia web check-in isn’t available for:
- Passengers with an illness or medical condition.
- Solo travelers below 16 years of age.
- Passengers with special needs and reduced mobility.
- Passengers traveling with an infant.
- Pregnant passengers.
AirAsia kiosk check-in
Can’t find a dependable internet connection? As with the airline’s online check-in service, you can also skip the airport’s long queues by using their check-in kiosks. Within a few minutes, you can check-in to your AirAsia flight, and print your boarding pass.
Important notes when using AirAsia check-in kiosks:
- Available at airports in India, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.
- You may check-in 14 days up to an hour prior to your scheduled departure time.
- You can use the check-in kiosks, to print your boarding pass by scanning the barcode on your smartphone.
AirAsia check-in kiosk process:
- Make your way to the airport’s AirAsia check-in kiosk.
- Enter you booking number, and tap confirm.
- Click the name of the guest that you’d like to check-in, and select confirm.
- Wait for the kiosk to print your boarding pass.
- Board the plane. If you have luggage to check-in, drop it off at the baggage drop off counter. Otherwise, walk over to the documents check counter, to have your documents verified.
AirAsia web check-in isn’t available for:
- Passengers with an illness or medical condition.
- Solo travelers below 16 years of age.
- Passengers with special needs and reduced mobility.

AirAsia mobile check-in
Of course, AirAsia has a mobile app that lets you check-in and verify yourself for your flight at your fingerprints. Available for Android and iOS devices, this mobile app definitely adds a unique dimension to AirAsia check-in services.
Checking-in with this tool is extremely easy and simple. Once you’re checked-in for your flight, you’ll get an E-Boarding Pass or 2D barcode that you can save and later on use to print your pass at one of the airports kiosks. And yes, you can use your E-Boarding Pass, to skip the long lines, and go straight to the boarding gate (as long as you’re eligible).

To use your E-Boarding Pass, make sure to check out these essential notes and tips:
- Only 1 passenger is allowed for every E-Boarding Pass.
- Available only for passengers traveling from Indonesia, Philippines (Manila), Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia.
- This service can’t be used for flights to Australia.
- Only available for visa-free destinations.
