The airline's primary hub is at Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), with secondary hubs at eight airports elsewhere in China, including Tibet. As a member of the Star Alliance, Air China operates non-stop flights to about 185 destinations across China and the rest of Asia, as well as the Middle East, Europe, Oceania, North America and South America. The first leg of the flight was delayed for 9hrs due to bad weather, and we missed the connecting flight to Italy and has to wait at airport for 17hrs more until the next flight. Airport customs also denied temporary visa for no reason and we could not go out to the hotel. The airlines took 2hrs of begging to give us 400 RMB each to spend while min. price of staying in THEIR lounge was 1200 RMB per night.…

I flew premium economy. Dreadful. Terrible choice of entertainment. Poor quality food. Lack of staff presence. Thimbleful measure or red wine. A pained expression when I asked for a second. Begrudgingly given a mouthful. This for a journey of nine & a half hours. Slightly bigger seats & legroom but nothing to commend it. Cancelled connection to Shenzhen with little help from CA staff. Totally underwhelmed by the service.…

I acknowledge Air China as a national airline and a member of star alliance, and I will rate and review it as such (in comparison to other national airlines and members of said alliance). Therefore: Joke of an airline. App is hardly working, and very difficult to navigate. Onboard entertainment is poor - selection of anything is very limited, not to mention out of 4 flights I had with them twice the entertainment was broken and didn't work at all. Meal was meh. Just fine, would expect more from national airline Avoid if you can, unless you hit a huge price bargain…

Nothing worked. TV broken, food orders wrong, flight delayed by 9 hours due to 'AirChina Problem'. They said we could get a refund for this, we were offered £5 in compensation... They got us there alive, that's the only positive thing that can be said about this airline. Save yourself the bother and go with anyone else.…

Air China is really not as bad as it is cracked up to be. I found my 4 flights -London to Beijing , Beijing to Auckland and back again, perfectly fine and adequate to get me from A to B. It was a super cheap economy ticket and for that and reading so many terrible reviews, my expectations were low. I was pleasantly surprised by the polite and helpful staff on the quickly replied to, phone line who calmed any anxiety I had about the App and Website not working . To be honest this was very stressful on the way, but on my return less so . It meant very long queues at the airport, as no one was able to check in online. I recommend arriving 3 hours ahead of your flight to be safe. The planes are clean and well maintained , although the seats are slightly thinner and less padded than other more expensive airlines. The entertainment is limited although I was lucky enough to have a choice of Barbie and Oppenheimer on one flight , this did not happen again. The screens are smallish and basic and only hand held devices are allowed for watching your own films on board. The food is good enough with basic chicken or beef with rice, delicious Chinese tea and beer or wine if you fancy. The mostly Asian staff made the atmosphere gentler than on some western flights, and they were very conscientious and caring. Some planes were newer than others, the longer flights had the best planes , which made sense. Luggage was transited all the way, so no problem with long airport waits or quick visits to Beijing, which I recommend.…
