Aileen Sanders Nugent
Aileen Sanders Nugent, 84, was promoted from her earthly assignment to serve others in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 29, 2012.
After graduating from DeQuincy High School, Aileen went on study speech and drama at Louisiana College where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. Later, she spent her summers in Chicago enrolled in Northwestern University's speech and drama program enroute to earning her Master's Degree in Drama and Theatre. Returning to Pineville to raise her family, she worked with Frank David Bennett to build a model Speech and Drama department at Louisiana College then moved on to serve Rapides Parish Schools as an English, speech, and drama teacher for over 30 years.
As a lifelong partner of Louisiana College and member of the Kingsville Baptist Church, Aileen ministered to numerous aspects of the community and was vitally active in her church, job, and community. If any person were lacking in anything, Aileen provided for their needs, be it a roof, clothing, counsel, or food.
Most often seen with a mystery book or a Bible in her hand - and never too far from the telephone so that she kept in constant contact with her loved ones, Aileen loved directing in the theatre, collecting clocks, and observing the activity at her bird feeder.
She will now enjoy the company of those loved ones and friends who have passed before her and will joyfully reunite with her parents Pannal and Ada Sanders, husband Dayson Nugent, and infant son David Nugent. Aileen leaves her brother Lynwood Sanders, three sons Dwain, Rodney, and Venson Nugent with wife Laurie Nugent, daughter Paula Nugent Walker and husband Jeff Walker, and three grandchildren; Gabriel Walker, Isabella Walker, and Gabriel Rutter.
The family asks that friends pray blessings of gratitude for those who cared for her in the final years of her sickness, her son Venson and daughter-in-law Laurie Nugent. Many thanks go out to the staff of Christus Hospice and Grace House for their healing presence in her time of transition to her new life.
Visitation will be at Forest Lawn in Ball from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 3. A memorial service will be conducted at Kingsville Baptist Church, Pineville at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 4.
