Actor David McCallum was born on  19 September 1933 as David Keith McCallum in Maryhill, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

He is the second of two sons of  David McCallum Sr., the first violinist for the London Philharmonic, and of Dorothy Dorman, a cellist.

The family moved to London for his father to play as concertmaster in the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

He was interested in acting and music from childhood.
