A marriage proposal is something that requires a lot of thought and preparation. Where will the proposal happen? How will it happen? And most importantly, will the person say yes? One man who set the bar stratospherically high when it came to answering these questions was Quentin Brunson, who proposed to his long-time girlfriend Ashleigh Mann in a very special way back in 2021. Brunson asked legendary singer Adele to help out with the proposal, and the result was sweet, funny, and romantic.
The proposal happened during the British singer’s television special on CBS titled Adele: One Night Only. Quentin and Ashleigh’s romantic proposal moment came partway into the show, with Adele asking for the lights to be turned down and for everyone in the audience to be “really quiet.” At this point, Quentin led a blindfolded Ashleigh out in front of the audience, getting down on one knee before asking his girlfriend to remove the blindfold.
Unsurprisingly, Ashleigh was in complete shock at this point, particularly when she saw the audience, asking “who are these people?” and making everyone laugh. What followed was a romantic and emotional speech from Quentin, who acknowledged how much he loved his girlfriend and that the proposal had been a long time coming. Of course, when he popped the question, Ashleigh said yes, only for her to be surprised again by Adele walking out onstage and saying hello to the happy couple.
The proposal – followed by a stunning performance of ‘Make You Feel My Love’ – was just one of many notable moments from Adele’s One Night Only television special, which was watched by nearly 10 million people in the US. Another of these moments came when she sang ‘Someone Like You’, her global hit from 2011. Accompanied only by a piano, Adele’s rich, powerful voice soared across the audience, while her long, black dress and planet-shaped earrings made her look both beautiful and elegant.
Adele’s One Night Only television show promised to be special, and it certainly delivered, with the singer giving some of the best live performances we’ve seen from her in recent years. Perhaps the most memorable moment, however, was Quentin’s proposal to Ashleigh – something that neither the audience who was watching that night nor the happy couple themselves are ever likely to forget.
