Cyriel Dessers in action for Nigeria

Striker Cyriel Dessers started and scored from the penalty spot for Nigeria against Ghana in their 2-1 win - his second goal for the international side.

He then dropped to the bench when the Super Eagles faced Mali, but came on after 28 minutes to replace the injured Moses Simon. He blasted a great chance, one-on-one with the goalkeeper, over the bar in the 2-0 loss.

There was an injury scare for Ridvan Yilmaz while on international duty for Turkey - the left-back was forced off during their defeat to Hungary.

Reports indicate he could make a return for the Old Firm next month despite the thigh injury he sustained.

It was a disappointing international break for Scotland, with friendly defeats to the Netherlands and Northern Ireland.

John Souttar came on in the second half in Amsterdam, and was part of the defence unable to contain the Dutch onslaught of three goals in the final 18 minutes. The centre-back was an unused substitute in the Northern Ireland defeat.

Fabio Silva was a standout in the Portugal Under-21 side that thrashed Faroe Islands and Croatia 4-0 and 5-1 respectively.

He netted the opener against the Faroes, then assisted two and scored a penalty in the victory against Croatia.

Scotland's Under-21 side fared better than the senior team, defeating Kazakhstan 4-1. Leon King was involved from the start while Cole McKinnon and Adam Devine, who is on loan at Motherwell, were substitutes.

King has been a regular for the Under-21 side, having started all six of their Euro qualifiers. Scotland sit second in Group B behind Spain.
