It's crazy out here in these streets
I'm helping my mom renovate her house by choosing the countertops, cabinets, backsplash tile, and interior paint color(s). The goal was to warm up/brighten the house since the original paint color, bathroom/kitchen floor tile, countertops and carpet, were a light bluish-gray.
My mom cannot afford to change the bathroom and kitchen floor tile so we are trying to compensate by going with warm neutral colors that will still complement the floor. My mom wants one paint color for the majority of the house.
Now, I suggested we paint a patch in each room to see how she would like the color, but she wanted to paint the entire guest bathroom to see what the paint would look like instead. I told her it was a bad idea. But of course, it's her house and she can do what she wants. We just finished painting the bathroom today...and I'm not loving the color. It seems too bright!
Mind you, I have to remember that the lighting in the bathroom is not ideal (daytime bulbs) and we still have the original bluish-gray countertops with a mix of cool chrome hardware and a nickel sink faucet. The creamy white bathroom tub/shower looks dingy against the paint. Oh, and the paint has to dry...but I don't have a good first impression of the paint. I'm hoping it looks different when it dries...
Oh, and we'll be replacing everything in the bathroom except for the toilet and the bathtub/shower (we will replace it later). The bathroom will have nickel finishes for the bathtub/shower and sink.
Here's the material I choose:
I chose a Matte Imperial Bianco tile for the backsplash (It looks more neutral in person):
This is the selected countertop:
Valspar's Du Jour for the interior paint (eggshell finish for the bathroom):
Chocolate cherry wood cabinets (We choose the cabinets first with the original intent to complement the bluish-gray walls and almost choose a cooler toned countertop. We agreed to change the interior paint after we chose the cabinet finish, but it was too late to change our decision on the cabinet because we had already received the first shipment. Trust me when I say I would have chose something different.):
Drawer Hardware:
I found the images of the materials online, but the most of the materials have a cooler undertone online than in person (I swear it's more neutral in person). I will try to find some adequate lighting in the morning time and add some pictures I took of all the combined materials to get a better sense of how things look.
In case I hate the paint color later, could I have some suggestions, please?
