The food is incredibly good here, and there is a lot of it. The "service" is very limited because you order at the bar and it is delivered to the table, but the staff is friendly and helpful in ordering the food. The place is...in a small strip mall on the south side of the boulevard and is easy to miss if you are in the west bound lanes. There is nothing special about the exterior or interior, but the parking is good and wide. There is a small "market" for take home food at the entrance and a desert area further inside. The menu is quite large for a venue of this type. Making a selection is tough! The ambiance is very casual and a little dull, but the food makes up for what the décor lacks. There is absolutely no question that we will return! The food is simply too good to not.More

I stopped here for lunch and since it's crawfish season I had to try the crawfish etouffee. I ordered the appetizer. Absolutely delicious! So flavorful. I also ordered the half New Orleans Muffuletta. It actually reminded me of a muffuletta from New Orleans. Abe's is...the real deal. Friendly customer service and not expensive. Next time I will try the desserts.More

I think, when I left TX, the one thing I missed the most was good fried catfish. Abe's is THE place to go for that good old southern fried catfish. It's tasty and hot and there's plenty to eat. They've got quite a selection of...other items, but it's hard to pass up the catfish (tough to find up here in the north!) This time we also tried their Boudin balls and a cup of the Crawfish Etouffee. Boy, I miss this stuff!More

Not impressed. We were looking for boudin and frozen crawfish. Miss Adriana told me they sold frozen crawfish but it was a lot of trouble to look up and I told her that is what we had driven two hours for. She totaled the boudin...we had gotten ourself with no intent to look up the price of crawfish and said to come back tomorrow when GM should be there! Never again!More

Nice place to have lunch or early dinner. Take home (self cooking) food is limited at this time but take out is available. Better, local, cagun style food and big portions served. All self serve as far as drinks, seating, napkins and table ware. Clean...up staff only. Tables were sanitized as we were leaving.More

Abe's handles the pandemic well with better spacing (plus outside seating), courtesy, and crackling good food! The gumbo has a dark roux with wonderful subtleties of flavors, servings are large, batters add tasty but not obtrusive flavor, temperature of food is great, service is attentive...enough, and no one rushes you. You can refill your own drinks. Décor is very reminiscent of the mysterious swamplands. A great place to eat.More

Their seafood gumbo is as good as any you will find in Louisiana. Perfect roux and fresh seafood. Large gumbo comes with a piece of cornbread. Plus a drink is about $12, so it’s affordable and a good value. Will return to try more items....Place was packed for a reason.More

I love this place. Had the red beans and rice, which came with cornbread and a side order. The corn bread is absolutely the best I've ever had. I ordered the cole slaw and it was delicious as was the red beans and rice, with...a generous amount of sausage. It's not a fancy place, but they do the basics very well and it's reasonable. I've been here several times before and I will be back.More

We drove there from downtown Houston to meet friends. We ordinarily just leave if no one working in a restaurant is wearing a mask during this pandemic, but we didn't because of the long drive and because our friends were there. Sad, because the broiled...seafood was outstanding and we would like to go back. But if they don't wear masks, we will go somewhere where the staff does wear masks!! Don't want someone carrying Covid breathing on my food!!More

Live in VA but going to Abe’s is a must! Crawfish Etoufee is the best… really good. My mom did catering for Christmas with military discount and wow, I think they gave us two orders. Great place

We have been back to Abe's a number of times since I reviewed Abe's because the food is so good. And, it continues to be excellent! We took our adult grandkids to let them share in the experience. They absolutely loved the place. The same...is true for friends we have take here. Our schedule was pretty loose, and we always have been at the restaurant in the "off" hours--after 2:00 or before 11:00. This update is to let you you know that the place is packed during the lunch hours. We had a hard time finding a table at lunch today! We were there at 12:00 and we were totally surprised to see so many dinners, and they just kept on coming in. It is very popular with people in the area and soldiers from the air base (Ellington) up the street. There are no reservations here. Parking at the lunch huts is also an issue--it is crowded. There are a few tables outside, but they have a view of the parking lot, a noisy street, and the patrons entering the restaurant. The "4" rating continues to be a good assessment of the property. This is not a fancy place and it not at all pretentious. It is simply nice people serving great food that will "transport" you to Bourbon Street, New Orleans. The chicken and sausage gumbo continues to be my favorite--you can order it in a large bowl, with rice and wonderful corn bread. It will fill your stomach and make you smile! They have a station with doggy bags to let you take home what you can't eat. I think 50% of the dinners walk out with bags! NOTE: I just noticed that very few people have reviewed this property. It surprises me, or they do not want to let the secret out?More

We ate here a couple of times and everything so far is Delicious! The fried catfish, huge sandwich portion of philly cheesesteak, hushpuppies, and crawfish etouffee was delicious! They also have a nice dessert selection! You fill your own drinks, which was fine with me...because I'd rather not wait for the waiter to come fill my drink everytime. We will definitely be coming back.More
