Video shows moments police caught man accused of trying to abduct child at Miami Beach CVS

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Newly released video shows the moments police officers caught up with a man wanted for trying to snatch a child from his parents at a South Florida CVS.

The 4-year-old boy’s father quickly jumped in and stopped the man before he took off running.

It happened in February at the CVS located off 74th Street and Collins Avenue in Miami Beach.

The family from Cuba had only been in the country for about a month.

Video shows the swift takedown of 26-year-old Nicolas Sternaman.

Police said Sternaman is the one seen in surveillance video trying to grab the child, who was exiting the store with his parents.

The father, Hassan Rodriguez, told police that Sternaman grabbed his young son by the neck, trying to snatch him.

The video shows Rodriguez fighting for his boy and taking him back before Sternaman leaves.

Good Samaritan Devin Surajpal, a tourist from Tampa, helped police track down the attempted abductor.

“I just ran him down,” said Surajpal. “Broad daylight, try to snatch the kid just like that out of nowhere.”

Sternaman remains in jail, charged with kidnapping, aggravated child abuse and battery.
