The weekend turns dry but hot with an Ozone Pollution Watch

After destructive storm, moderate showers and storms possible Friday
ABC13 weather has your Houston forecast details, with doppler radar for southeast Texas and live cameras for the weather where you are, all week long.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The National Weather Service - Houston/Galveston confirmed that there were 100 mph straight-line winds in downtown Houston, while 90 mph winds rocked Baytown during Thursday night's destructive storm.

The NWS team also confirmed it was an EF-1 tornado near Cypress with 110 mph winds, and another EF-1 tornado struck west of there near Waller.

The toll the storm left is widespread and unprecedented, especially in downtown Houston.

Houston and county officials confirmed five people died from the intense weather.

How is the weekend shaping up?

We expect dry but hot weather both Saturday and Sunday. Morning lows will dip into the 60s on Saturday and Sunday, with afternoon highs in the low 90s. We'll get plenty of sunshine under a sunny to mostly sunny sky, and no rain is expected. Ozone pollution could be a problem both afternoons. You'll notice the humidity on Sunday is higher than on Saturday, and that humidity will continue to increase next week.

What do I need to know about next week's weather?

The heat is going nowhere, and the humidity will only get worse. That will push low temperatures higher into the upper 70s by Tuesday morning, and the heat index will climb into the mid 90s to near 100. Those that know they'll be without power for an extended time need to consider finding a place to stay cool during this hot and steamy stretch of weather. We do have a small chance of thunderstorms returning Wednesday and Thursday as we get back into the jet stream storm track.
