My family of 4 including my 2 adult Sons stayed here for the first time. We were there from 7/31 through 8/3/2022. The hotel was much nicer then I expected and the accommodations very wonderful. We stayed in adjoining rooms and the price was very reasonable for staying on property. The food choices were great. We tried every food choice and enjoyed every meal. The property shuttle buses were very convenient and the drivers were very friendly. We went to Hollywood studios one day and Universal studios for 2 days. We purchased the tickets through the Shades of Green ticket office. The process is a bit antiquated and there was a problem with the shipping!!! ( Make sure you tell them not to send them signature required) I had to wait for the third delivery cycle to get them because there is no one home during the day because we WORK! It took a few days to fix that but it finally worked out. I felt the ticket prices were slightly below everyone else's price. The overall stay was one of the best places we have ever stayed. The staff was friendly and accommodating. If you are a vet, disabled or retired you must try them out. The grounds were beautiful and the pools were great. Can't wait to return to Shades of Green!!!

It's been a few years since our last visit. This time we were in the "original" section of the resort which is showing its age a bit. We were on the third floor, and the water pressure was pretty low for the shower; but got the job done. The bathroom layout was a tad awkward because of how the door swings towards the toilet. The ventilation fan was noisy and ineffective - just recirculating the air through a filter that probably hasn't been changed in years. Our A/C functioned fine, but our travel companions down the hall had problems with theirs. Our sliding door to the balcony barely moved and needed new wheels or adjustment. The bed was okay thankfully. Sometimes they cleaned the room and sometimes they didn't - I don't know if there was a specific schedule or not (we didn't really need daily cleaning anyway). The staff was helpful, whenever we had a question. The pool and hot tub were nice and heated to our satisfaction. Lifeguards were polite and courteous. As always, this is a good value option for Disney trips and make it possible for us to visit. I would like to see some of the older rooms updated, especially as prices continue to increase. A small microwave would also round out the features of these rooms.

Had dinner at Mangino's, and after alerting our server, Catherine, to a shellfish allergy, they went above and beyond to ensure that my dinner experience was amazing. Robert, the head chef came to the table and got my order himself to ensure no cross contamination occurred. The food itself was amazing. Some of the juiciest fried mushrooms I've had; a rib eye that would make any griller jealous; and perfectly steamed veggies. After dinner, the manager, Emmanuel, came out to personally see how the dinner was. If you are staying here, I would recommend at least one dinner here. And if you're lucky enough to have Catherine as your server, say hi, and treat her well. She's a diamond in the food service industry.

I love SOG! I visited 17 months ago in the middle of the pandemic and just recently! Everything is now open! The on-site restaurants, shopette and ticket office are open. I suggest purchasing your park tickets (& Genie+)several weeks prior in order to reserve a park on the app. You also need to reserve a room asap! We had a beautiful room with a view of the golf course. Each morning we were greeted by wild turkeys. The rooms are large. The toilet/shower has it's own door so it is possible for a family to get ready at once. The bathroom area with the sinks (2)could easily accommodate 3 adults at once. There are beautiful heated pools and places to walk. There are also ponds with fish and baby gators. There are busses to take you to the parks OR you can take a short walk to the Polynesian and ride the monorail. The room has a fridge and coffee pot. We LOVE SOG!! You will too!

Five nights at a fantastic military resort for an unbelievable price at Disney. Very large room with patio. Our room was at the very end of the Magnolia Wing which meant we had to walk all the way to lobby and through it to the parking garage. We are pretty fit so we didn’t mind the trek but for anyone with walking difficulty you should tell them at registration. The room was in good shape except bathtub had not been renovated and the faucet was pulling away from wall. Double sinks were great and bathtub and toilet separate so two people could get ready easily. Air conditioning good and so quiet we couldn’t hear it running. We ate at Manginos three nights and food and service excellent. Salmon and filet were good. A wonderful stay!

Our family stayed in 2 rooms in the Magnolia wing in early November. Shades is doing an excellent job of cleaning in the public areas during COVID and many precautions are being taken. The pools were open which was great for the kids. Our rooms had good space, 2 queen beds, a refrigerator, a coffee maker & a sofa bed to name a few. There's a nice small PX in the resort where you can buy some food, wine, souvenirs, Disney items, etc. We used the shuttles to the Magic Kingdom & to Epcot and found them to be on time. If you want to ride on the shuttle to the park when it opens, I recommend that you show up about 10-15 minutes early as a line formed some days. There was no daily room cleaning but you can call for more towels, coffee, etc. and the staff will bring them to the room. We were there a week. I would have liked to have some wipes about halfway through our stay to use to clean in the bathroom, our table, counter and other spots. The resort has a parking garage & charges $13 a day. Mangino's restaurant was a good place to get some of our meals. We ate in the restaurant one night plus did take out for dinner another night & for some breakfasts. Meals were very good.

After a nightmare of a hotel earlier on in our vacation, we were prepared to like just about anything. But this hotel literally had our jaws hanging open. It is a resort on the Disney property, for the exclusive use of military families. So, if no one is in the military in your immediate family (who you vacation with), then move along. You can't stay here. The entryway of the hotel looks like a Disney venue. Huge space, beautifully decorated, with a fireplace and comfy chairs. Check in area was just as up-scale looking. I worried I had heard the rate wrong; how could this hotel be this affordable? The room was wonderful. Designed to sleep 5, it had 2 queen beds and a sofa where the back rolled over to form a mattress. The double sink counter was separated from the toilet/shower area, so you could brush your teeth without waiting. The beds were comfy, and the rooms were clean. You pay for parking, but you can also arrange to rent a vehicle from the in-house car rental place (I forget who it was, but it was a national brand), so you don't need to keep one. Shuttles regularly, well, shuttle guests to the Disney venues. And because Shades of Green is on Disney property, you get to take advantage of the early opening of the parks (each park has a day when they will be open early, and you get a list when you check in). The shuttles don't run to Universal, so if you want to go there, or Seaworld, you'll have to find other transportation. There are several restaurants in the hotel, and the breakfast was well stocked and very affordable for what it provided. There are 2 pools, but we never went to them, because we were busy at the parks and just wanted to crash when we got back. They even have spa services. And a golf course. Saving the best for last: the employees. The woman on the night shift who checked us in was wonderfully welcoming and accomodating to our last-minute reservation. She helped us out with finding rooms for the remainder of our stay, and even called my daughter (the military connection who vacations with us) at 10pm one night to tell her she had found a room for us. Amazing. We didn't need the room though. Why? Because that morning, another employee had helped us find a local hotel (Shades was fully booked; no wonder), and even called them to smooth the way. I can't say enough about the extra mile these employees were willing to go. You truly feel like someone special when you stay here. Book early. They fill up VERY quickly. But also check back for those inevitable cancellations.

We/I was very excited to finally stay at SOG after years of just going on to buy our tickets. So first the pros: The food is really good especially the Italian restaurant. And all the staff is super nice. The pools are very relaxing. The rooms and bathroom are very large. The bell hops are wonderful and very helpful. I was worried about the buses but they actually were great and the drivers super nice. Now for the Cons: The Wifi is TERRIBLE. You need to use the phone to get food reservations and menus but it’s almost impossible to log on anywhere to do so. We stayed 10 days on 1st fl Palm side and the ice machine our floor was broken the whole time leaving us no choice but yo go to the second floor every time we needed ice. There is only one laundry room which is on the 3rd floor and that’s where the small microwave is. It’s impossible to go that far to heat anything and get back while it’s still hot. For the very expensive price we paid I’d like a bit more amenities at my reach. Once the pool closes due to thunder, it’s closed for the rest of the day and if you know fl. It will rain hard and be done an hour later. Then your stuck in the heat with no pool. There for this is probably the last time we stay there. For that price only Hawaii is worth it. For Florida with hotels a dime a dozen we will go elsewhere.

Us and friends went to Disney for a week…. With me being retired from the Air Force, we decided to get rooms at Shades of Green, located right in the confines of the Disney complex… Rooms were very spacious and comfortable…. Service from ALL personnel was impeccable; very helpful and very friendly… The two restaurants had excellent food along with superb service!!!! You don’t find many places like this !!!! I highly recommend this hotel and I WILL return…. Thank you

Enjoyed our visit to SOG as always. Wasn’t sure what to expect with Covid but room was well cleaned, daily room service was suspended but anytime we needed extra towels etc a call to front desk brought quick response and our needs were met. Several hotel restaurants were still closed but there were options open for quick grab or sit down meals. Pools open and the bus service was available. Buses for park transportation were very reliable and punctual. One note of concern/suggestion as far as bus transportation to Disney Springs...the bus stop at DS did not feel “safe” to us upon leaving that night after dinner. It is at the end (WestEnd) where many venues are still closed. It was empty of people except security guards and some sketchy individuals, lighting is poor and the stop is difficult to find at night. Not a comfortable spot and we felt rather uneasy. Perhaps a more visible spot is better.... Hotel lobby, grounds, and our room were well kept, staff and patrons were physically distancing and being respectful during the pandemic so vacation experience here is a good, safe one. Wish we could visit more often! Looking forward to next time.

Our room had 2 Queen beds and a pullout couch....so yes plenty large enough, but you would have to check on # allowed! When you check in each individual is provided a bus pass, that is shown each time. Of course yr 4 yr will be allowed with you at all times.... We took our 2 grandkids, I would highly recommend a room NOT facing the pool or you will be kept up all late by individuals in pool

We had purchased tickets prior to COVID...had to reschedule and finally got to go to Disneyworld 7 months later. Our tickets were waiting at Shades of Green when we got there. I understand the process is totally different now. In addition to yr tickets you must make a park(s) reservation....would would make the park reservation Now as it fills up quick...if tickets don't arrive in time cancel......wish you a wonderful time, it has always been a dream to take my grandkids....2 done, four left. Hope this answer helped you! No fast passes any longer

Heated to 82 degrees like all Disney Resorts. If you are unfamiliar with heated pools, this temperature is freezing.
