Looking for a great Irish movie to watch today? Look no further than "A Date for Mad Mary."

Like us, many of you were delighted when "Can't Cope, Won't Cope" made it to Netflix, especially those of us based in the US who missed out on it the first time around.

The series was such a hit because of the superb performances by its two leading actresses Seána Kerslake (Aisling) and Nika McGuigan (Danielle) and now Kerslake in back on our Irish TV screens today in another Irish movie that's both hilarious and heartbreaking.

"A Date for Mad Mary" - which will be shown today, Sunday, December 23, at 9 pm on Virgin One - also looks at female friendship as Kerslake's previous TV series did and while her character in this movie is also lost and maybe a little too fond of a drink to forget it, Mary has a whole other complex set of friendship complexities to battle.

The movie was based on the Yasmine Akram one-woman play "10 Dates with Mad Mary" (2010) and in case you needed any more convincing, it also won "Best Film" at the Irish Film & Television Awards.
