      Critics Consensus

Much like the crime at its center, A Confession is often grueling, but an honest approach to a horrible situation proves equally gripping.

Susannah Butter London Evening Standard All the performances are strong and it is a tactful rendering of the story. It's more of a slow mood piece than a pacy, Broadchurch-style crime drama, but that feels appropriate. Sep 10, 2019 Full Review Deborah Ross The Mail on Sunday (UK) I did have to wonder about what was true and what wasn't... But still, this is gripping. Rated: 4/5 Sep 9, 2019 Full Review Hugo Rifkind Times (UK) With fictional dead young women being such a fixture of police dramas, I'm always wary of the ethics of plundering real cases. Still, it was delicately done. Sep 6, 2019 Full Review Amberleigh Jack Stuff.co.nz A Confession is not just one for fans of true-crime. The story itself is compelling and heartbreaking... Dec 15, 2022 Full Review Prahlad Srihari Firstpost [ITV's true crime miniseries] raises the age old question about ends justifying the means, especially in circumstances where what you think is legally right and morally right are not the same thing. Jul 28, 2020 Full Review Joel Keller Decider We're recommending A Confession purely for the lead actors - we'd watch Freeman read his Twitter feed for an hour - and where we think the story is going. Jools R Incredible series, enjoy every second of this drama. Anyone who mentions the dodgy camerawork needs their head looking at!!! Gripping drama. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/23/23 Full Review Linda C Outstanding. Didn't want it to end. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Diane M Great acting and story. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Simon D I fail to understand some of the reviews left regarding this documentary. One reviewer states that he couldn't get past the dodgy camera work... WTF????? F**K the camera work!!! This documentary is the opportunity for the victims (Patricia's family) to get their voices heard and for the world to see the TRUTH!!! Not only was Keith GUILTY as sin but this series also highlights the importance of how corrupt and wrong our justice system is. People like Keith's solicitor make me so angry. HTF is he able to sleep at night??? You have to be a cold hearted piece of sh*t to hear you're client admitting to killing and incinerating is wife with CONCRETE EVIDENCE to then jump through loop holes in the system to get that evidence thrown out. It's so obvious this guy is guilty and now the truth is out there I hope people are intelligent enough to see it. Our legal system is f**cked and this series is evidence of that! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the best shows I have seen in a while, right up there with Broadchurch and Line of Duty. An interesting true story and great acting. It also gives a lot of heart and thought to the victims at the center, which not all crime shows do. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Superb. No, it's not an action film, you're right. It's what it is and it's incredibly well done. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
