RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A person was seriously injured during a stabbing at a Walmart in east Raleigh Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The incident was reported around 3:15 p.m. at the Walmart at 4431 New Bern Ave., according to a news release from the Raleigh Police Department.

A man was attacked outside the Walmart and then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, police said.

A person was taken into custody after the attack, according to a news release from police.

The investigation is impacting traffic on New Bern Avenue and Corporation Parkway. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route, police said.

The location of the stabbing is the same as a shooting that injured a person outside the Walmart less than a year ago in July.

No other information was released by police.
