At one time, THE place to go in Mexico City for nightlife. Now there are many areas to explore including chic Polanco, hipster Roma or laid back Coyoacan. It does have its seedy side with a number of strip clubs but it is certainly not the decrepit area it became in the 80s. Our hotel Galleria Plaza Reforma was located here, and we found fun bars and good restaurants nearby and felt safe walking the streets.

My hotel was across the street from Zona Rosa and it was nice to spend an evening i the wonderful area of restaurants, clubs, and shows. They have a Mariarchi show in one of the clubs.

There is a lot of security presence around and it feels safe late in the night. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars to spend time, people watch and just relax.

One street is blocked for traffic and here you are beckoned by hostesses to their restaurants. I chose the very first place that called me.

Also, It is relaxing to walk around in the afternoon.

The Zona Rosa is not what it used to be in the 60s and 70s.
It was an area with chic boutiques and top notch restaurants. People were classy.
Now it is dirty and unkept.
Still a few nice hotels are on the area like the NH COLLECTION at Liverpool Street.
You see many indigents.

I'm Mexican and can't stand this sleazy area. If you don't know your way around the area avoid it like the plague.

In the late 60's and 70's it was the hip place to go... my parents would go to nightclubs and enjoyed it at the time. Unfortunately, it's very run down and shady characters are just waiting to pounce on you.

You should instead go to San Angel, Coyocan, Roma, or Condesa neighborhoods where you can walk around, stop for a coffee or cocktail along the way, shop at nice boutiques, and also have lots of restaurants to choose from.

Enjoy your stay in Mexico and make sure to try our wonderful variety of food 😊

Very attractive and beautiful district with a special vibe. People are friendly, open and attentive. It is a safe place. Easy to go in and enjoy. A lot of restaurants and shops. Especially the walking street (Génova) is superior.

I was floored by how comfortable zona rosa is. many quiet tree shaded streets with many pedestrian friendly businesses, great street food and great bike ways. This feels like a comfortable family livingroom compared to NYCs stressful noisy crowded streets for only cars. And the metro? I havent seen one station in NYC that is nicer than the metro station here.
