Tottenham now open to selling '£100m player' who Ange Postecoglou loves this summer - The Spurs News

Tottenham Hotspur are now open to the idea of selling a player who has played a big role under Ange Postecoglou this season.

The summer transfer window is going to provide Tottenham with a real opportunity to bring in the changes they need after a turbulent season.

Ange Postecoglou‘s first term at the helm is coming to a close and there have been plenty of lessons to take from it.

New players have come through the doors at Hotspur Way since Postecoglou’s arrival but there is still work that needs to be done.

The Australian inherited a lot of players when he landed in north London and already Spurs have offloaded a number of them.

More are expected to follow over the coming months with the club looking to be ruthless in how they approach the window.

Spurs have already said goodbye to players like Hugo Lloris and Eric Dier who were not wanted by Postecoglou but now there’s a player who starts regularly that could be allowed to exit this summer.

Tottenham now open to selling player who’s played big role this season

There have been a number of standout performers for Tottenham this season with Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero being two of them.

Despite Tottenham’s relatively poor defensive record, the pair have formed a sensational partnership at the back.

However, there have also been players who have seen their form drop off dramatically from earlier in the season.

That concerns the likes of James Maddison who was even dropped on Thursday night against Chelsea as a result of his recent form.

But there is another player who has also struggled to replicate the stunning form he showed earlier in the season.

Midfielder Yves Bissouma looks to be a shadow of the player who started off the season under Postecoglou.

In fact, he has recently been named as Tottenham’s biggest underperformer compared to his early season form.

This is a player who started off the season so brightly with TalkSPORT‘s Jamie O’Hara hailing him as a “£100m player”.

And now, The Telegraph are reporting Spurs would be open to the idea of selling the 27-year-old this summer.

The Mali midfielder has not been put up for sale by the club, but an attractive offer would certainly be considered now.

What has Ange Postecoglou said about Yves Bissouma recently?

The midfielder has made 24 starts (26 appearances) in the Premier League for Postecoglou this season but found himself benched for Sunday’s North London Derby.

After returning to the squad on Thursday night, Bissouma was one of the players on the receiving end of a Postecoglou wrath during the first half.

Speaking in a press conference back in March, Postecoglou commented on Bissouma’s struggles.”He has been very good at times but he hasn’t really got a flow,” the Australian said.

“He got suspended, he went away to the Africa Cup of Nations. It’s very, very hard for any player to maintain certain levels if you’ve not got consistency in game-time and consistency in flow.”

“I still think he’s been a really important player for us this year and when he is playing at the levels I know he can play, it makes us a much more difficult team to stop.”

Journalist Alasdair Gold said Postecoglou “loves” Bissouma, but his form since October has been seriously underwhelming.
