Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were there for a youth hockey game. It is worth checking out if you are a hockey fan all. Great old building - interesting architecture. I have never seen a college game there but it must be amazing based on the amount of seats and proximity to the ice surface. Located next to the baseball and softball fields as well as a track if you want to go for a walk. Always impressed when "new" is added and the "old" is not lost - and that is what this is all about. Likely can get in at no cost if Michigan is not playing.

This is a pretty big place for a college hockey team. Access is pretty easy. Nice place to see a game.

Been there 100s of times over the years. Awesome atmosphere thanks to band and Children of Yost. Team results help as always. Good selection of Michigan gear. Staff is very welcoming.

If you want to see entertaining hockey and get in some good people watching, this is your spot. The players offer plenty of entertainment on the ice, and the student section fills in the rest.
Always a fun place to catch a game.

Staff was very accommodating, especially to our young ice skater. Very friendly, the smell of the ice was awesome in this historical arena where the magic has been happening for years.

A must visit for hockey fans. This place is quite an experience. An old field house with large windows, the seating is pitched so steeply you feel like you're on top of the ice. The event staff? Nicest ever. And so many of them. Our aisle host pointed out an out-of-the-way hallway that housed numerous photos/awards amassed over the years by the U of M hockey team. We would have never known about it. And the historic memorabilia displayed in and around the lobby was awesome. The U of M hockey band was spectacular. Very entertaining, as were the in-game graphics on the big board. The concessions offered typical fare (hot dogs, etc.) and non-typical (turkey wraps). The prices, for an event like this, were reasonable. The only dig? Metal bleacher seats. Bring a seat cushion. But it's not bad enough to bring the rating down from perfect.

In a nutshell, they don't build them like this anymore. Ofd school charm of college hockey as it was intended to be. Great fans (even if you're on the opposing side) and site lines for such an older venue.

Michigan fans are the worst in the nation. I went when Ohio State played Michigan. I’m an Ohio State fan, and everyone was constantly harassing me, and one guy threatened to fight me. On the way out, all the way to my car, there were 3 Michigan students who would not stop swearing at me. The only redeeming quality was that the event staff is very friendly.

Love this arena. Great sheet of ice, great atmosphere for a hockey game. I like the brick walls on each end that give it a classy look. Size and vantage points, make it perfect for hockey games, and seating is well-planned. I like the vending machine with U of M pucks, shoe laces, and other items in them.

Yost Ice arena is an old school, barn-like arena. Great place to watch a college hockey game -- if you can get a ticket!

where to park

There is some parking onsite and you can park there during open ice skating. During events like hockey games, you can park there but many people park across State Street in adjacent neighborhood.
