Untitled[edit]

Found various references to 'Yorkshire and Humberside' economic region in the 1960s and stuff, well before the idea of a cross-Humber county council was mooted. Appears to have covered West & East Ridings and Lindsey. Morwen - Talk 08:21, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The north east referendum was a good few years ago now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thomashauk (talkcontribs) 18:37, 12 September 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

There never was a referendum in Yorkshire and the Humber, so I think that is best disguarded from the article. Epa101 (talk) 22:17, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Seat[edit]

What's the seat of the region?

Has to be London, since its a southern invention not a genuine region. - Yorkshirian (talk) 14:03, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Any comments please?--Harkey Lodger (talk) 12:27, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

7 and 8 need to be subsets of 6. 15 and 16 need to be subsets of a "Sport" category, surely also including Cricket if not other sports? 1,4,5 need to be adjacent, perhaps? How does that lot compare with Wikipedia:WikiProject_UK_geography/How_to_write_about_counties? OK that's counties, not regions, but I'd think there is enough in common that it might be useful to follow those guidelines. PamD (talk) 12:35, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree with the suggestions about the structure. I'm not too sure about Wikipedia:WikiProject_UK_geography/How_to_write_about_counties as there is already an article about the historic county which is quite anachronistic in its approach.--Harkey Lodger (talk) 12:47, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Infographic?[edit]

Hi, I’m Andrew Clark and I work at the Office for National Statistics in the UK.

We publish lots of infographics and I wonder if this one on Yorkshire and the Humber (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Regional_Profile_of_Yorkshire_and_The_Humber.png) would be of interest for Yorkshire_and_the_Humber

FYI, the full gallery, updated weekly, is here <https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Content_created_by_the_Office_for_National_Statistics>

December 2013--Time to update this article[edit]

Quoting from the first paragraph of the article: "The British Government has announced its intention to abolish Government Offices (for the Regions) no later than 31 March 2011." Isn't it about time that the principal article on Yorkshire and the Humber was updated to inform the ordinary reader what has happened since the date given. I note that at least two of the references are now dead links, inferring that the government department no longer exists. --Oldontarian (talk) 14:01, 19 December 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:

Triggered by \bfoodprocessing-technology\.com\b on the local blacklist

If you would like me to provide more information on the talk page, contact User:Cyberpower678 and ask him to program me with more info.

From your friendly hard working bot.—cyberbot II NotifyOnline 11:48, 3 April 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Resolved This issue has been resolved, and I have therefore removed the tag, if not already done. No further action is necessary.—cyberbot II NotifyOnline 19:13, 9 April 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Wrong title/name[edit]

It's Yorkshire and Humber. Not Yorkshire and THE Humber. Look on the government website: http://www.lgyh.gov.uk/About-Us/ All references are without the 'the'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.254.56.162 (talk) 14:22, 23 March 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

That website isn't about the region, it's about an organisation (which no longer exists, according to its home page) based in the region. See, for example, http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/guide-method/geography/beginner-s-guide/administrative/england/government-office-regions/index.html which uses the name with "the". -- Dr Greg  talk  19:05, 23 March 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Shrinking this article[edit]

For a statistical entity with few political functions, this article sure has a lot of elements one would expect of a county article (history, culture, geology, etc). Is it not somewhat comparable to having those sections on the articles for postcode areas?
I would propose getting rid of most of the article and just having sections on history (i.e. the establishment of the region, and onwards on), geography (i.e. the borders of the thing), and it's use as a political entity (European parliament, regional assembly, etc). --Inops (talk) 22:53, 3 January 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Articles from the Guardian that cover the potential for an elected assembly[edit]

I don't have time myself to incorporate these into the article as I wouldn't know where to start. But potentially useful for other interested parties. Jonjonjohny (talk) 09:08, 20 February 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Population figures[edit]

Some of the population figures have been updated but not all of them. Surely we should have all of the figures from a single source and to the same year so that they are comparable. Also should have some explanation of when the figures apply to and what area the items include - are they for the settlements or the wider borough?
