- Carrie W1 contributionWe were technically out of manatee season, so we didn't have high expectations, but this group...wow, they went above and beyond! They took us out further than they usually take groups after receiving a tip that a couple of manatees were there. They spent an extra hour (or more!) for us to continue kayaking to be able to see the manatees (along with countless alligators and turtles and birds on the way). The guides could have easily turned around and simply gone back home, with an easy afternoon, but they kept going..for us!! I was impressed and thankful. We saw FOUR manatees, towards the end of April! It was definitely the highlight of our Florida trip, and a memory we will never forget. - Katy H2 contributionsWe had a beautiful trip through the springs on a 9am tour (definitely recommend the first tour to beat the crowds, especially on a weekend). Our guide, Aly, did a wonderful job, giving clear instructions, setting an easy pace, and pointing out lots of wildlife, all in a friendly, professional manner. We saw wood ducks, anhinga, cormorants, pileated woodpeckers, alligators, garfish, water snakes, turtles, and manatees! She also explained some of the natural history of the spring and pointed out structures on the banks that were historical replicas or used in old films. We had time to take photos of the flora and fauna, and learned secrets of the springs. We had an amazing time paddling with him to the nooks and crannies to see the manatees, turtles, gators, and other items of interest along the river at Silver Springs. Aaron was so patient and helpful, even to paddlers not in our group, to make sure everyone was safe and having a good time on the water! The group photos were an added bonus as Aaron often got closer to the object than I could or sometimes wanted to (read: gators!) and his camera and lenses captured much more than my phone ever could. Only a few miles out of downtown Orlando you are immediately totally immersed into a tranquil environment of clear water, towering trees, fish and wildlife (even saw a couple of alligators) . It is an easy paddle suitable for even the most novice paddler.
