Few people in popular culture are as vilified by Baby Boomers as Yoko Ono. "She broke up the Beatles, man!" Yeah, maybe (though doubtful) but they were due to break up. Things were headed downhill with or without her. The truth is she was good for John, or at the very least, good for his music, and what people fail to acknowledge is what she gave up for him. An up and coming figure in the New York "avant garde", she turned away from that to back the man she loved. Sure, she ended up far richer than she would have, but I suspect she would have been monetarily comfortable had she never met John.
Anyway, while she was never particularly great at fitting in musically with what John was doing, she was clearly quite adept at the music that was exclusively hers, and this is that!
She does a marvelous job here & Kim & Thurston prove to be exceptionally sensitive & tasteful improvisers. I suspect that many Sonic Youth fans will find those a bit too abstract to sink their teeth into, but for those who enjoy this sort of thing it's worth a listen.

I liked this more than I thought I would, but it's still pretty much what I expected from this collaboration.

The kind of noisy/free thing that I'll rarely put on, enjoy it when I do, and will never recommend to anyone outside of a very select handful of noise aficionados. Not as fun as Yoko Ono / Plastic Ono Band but a lot noisier, and way more together and pointed than Unfinished Music No. 2: Life With the Lions or the title cut (I.E. the bulk of side four) of Fly.
