What travelers are saying
- AnylevenLondon, UK210 contributionsA ride on the Schwebebahn has been on my bucket list for many years and I finally managed to do it end to end. Fantastic experience and very smooth. 30 mins end to end and the journey mostly follows the course of the River Wupper except for a short section that runs above the street near the Vohwinkel end.
Trains are 2 car and run every 3-4 mins. If you, like me, could not manage to get a 24 hour ticket at both the stations in Wuppertal then try the book shop in the main rail station in Wuppertal as they will issue you a ticket (Euro 8.30 April 2024). This not only covers the Schwebebahn but buses as well.
A must for any Transport Geek and visitor just for the uniqueness being one of only a few systems in the world and, I believe, the oldest.Written April 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We spent the morning going from end to end, taking photos and videos. The way it travels above the river gives fun views and it appears to go straight into buildings at some stations. It is hard to get your head around the way it has no tracks beneath it but hangs from above. This gives a strange swaying motion to the ride which is not unpleasantWritten July 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Annie E28 contributionsA healthy steep walk up flights of steps to reach these gardens, and well worth it. Large landscaped park with beautiful ancient trees and little paths, with benches to sit and enjoy the views. One can easily wander here for an hour. There are also glasshouses with a magnificent collection of cacti. Well labelled herb garden and a tower to climb with stunning views over town and valley. A perfect activity for a Sunday morning. Thank you to all the gardeners who maintain it all so well!Written November 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tinne L1 contributionTired but satisfied I write this review. The school vacation are over here in this part of Germany and it shows. The zoo is almost empty except for a few classes. Here and there a lost tourist like ourselves. The weather isn't cooperating at first, but after a bit of patience and some rain showers we can go for it. A small warning. It is climbing and descending in this fine zoo. My condition is anything but, but the animals make up for everything.
The zoo is very clean and the animals are pampered. Where I thought the leopards had a small enclosure, it turned out that they still had a passage to quieter places when the happy shrill voices of children become too much for them. But that is not the case now and we get to see these beautiful animals in their full glory. Soon after the elephants follow kangaroos, monkeys, ostriches, Siberian tigers and for me the icing on the cake are the penguins and sea lions. There is so much more to see. But my legs are tired and my heart is satisfied. I can only recommend this zoo. Shame the restaurant was closed but I suppose we had some bad luck here. No problem. If we ever come back in the area, I would love to visit this zoo again. Have fun to the future visitors and don't forget to enjoy all the beautiful things this zoo has to offer.Written August 23, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Most of the security team was nice expect for one which was looking at me and my friend none stop and just to us too, even though there were other people too she just kept stealing at us which was very uncomfortable. But that’s the only bad thing about this place! It’s really pretty and very clean fitted.Written June 13, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Judy LAllentown, PA393 contributionsOn a hilltop with beautiful views. Half of the sculptures are amazing works of Tony Cragg, owner of the park. - Simon CMunich, Germany191 contributionsThere are three things to see: 1) models and copies of paintings and information about Leonardo da Vinci's life on the ground floor 2) 20 minute video projected on interior of gas cylinder 3) panoramic view from the top of the gas cylinder. I enjoyed it. However, €15 is expensive for the visit.Written September 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MyahRotterdam, The Netherlands76 contributionsThis museum offers a trip ride back and forth into the woods with old trams for only 6€. It is a very nice experience, I think it is unique in Europe. Although, they can improve their staff with learning English because not all of the tourists are Germans.Written September 28, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
