We got off at GuanBuTun metro station and had breakfast in one of the many restaurants and food stores along the GuangBa Road which was absolutely delicious. For your info, we ate at 華仔 beef noodle restaurant. You should try the Ru Gan Mien (the Wuhan specialty noodles).
It’s an interesting visit if you want to see what a Chinese university looks like and student live on campus. It is very huge and hard to cover all of it by foot. It’s settled amongst a nice peaceful forest with a large lake. We went in early 1 January and the campus was very quiet. The forest is in winter hibernation so would be like any other forest. I’ve heard it’s where boyfriends take their girls for a date or it’s a wedding photo shoot location. However I did find it a bit underwhelming and you may get stuck exiting the gates as there are security guards who check that you actually have some ID card to access the campus grounds. Might be worth a visit during Sakura season though.

This is one of the most well known universities in China, located in central wuhan, a bit far from the river, but the exterior view of the pagodas really drew my attention to learn more and more about the uni. It's about the same size as BFLU in Beijing, though not as many faculty members though.

The key to visiting Wuhan in general is the time of the year. The main Wuhan University campus is most famous for cherry blossoms in the spring. The old buildings that make up the central area of the campus are really beautiful and they make quite a picture when the blossoms are out. The only issue is that it isn't a very well kept secret so you can expect to have other people in the background of your photos more often than not. The campus in general is really beautiful and there are some great cafes that are dotted along some of the main campus bus routes so that you can stop off and take in the sights. As the campus borders Dong Hu (East Lake) you can exit the campus and take a really nice stroll along the lake. Recently they have improved the walkways around the lake so that they are safe and relaxing.

Well, I did not go to this university for study. It is famous for its natural beauty, and that is absolutely correct. I have gone there many times, and each time I love it. Though it is at its best in spring (I am waiting for it), the other time is never bad. The hills, huge number of trees, beautiful architecture of buildings - all will impress you. To my view, a must see place to spend your leisure in Wuhan.

If you want to feel the spirit of Chinese reverence to knowledge and wisdom, and you happen to be in Wuhan, you should go to the Luojia Mountain campus of the Wuhan University. They say it's the most beautiful university campus in China. And it;s the oldest university in the country. The beautiful buildings with blue/green tiles and roofs as if from a movie attest to that. Especially beautiful and worth the visit is the nowadays building of the PhD students. Wedding couples can be met there having photo sessions. Be prepared to climb a lot of stairs, though. But it is worth it. You can also see beautiful big butterflies flying around and enjoy the shade of old leafy trees. In Wuhan there are over 1 million students and this is one of the places where you can sense that youthful spirit coupled with a palpable feeling of the millennial tradition of learning.

Yet another great place to see local people spit on things and get laughed at for being a foreigner! When they see you they'll laugh at you and scream "lao wai" of "wai guo ren" and then spit on something.

I was in wuhan for a two-weeks business trip. I went to wuhan university on my own, taking the 810 bus from guanggu plaza and after 7 stops i stopped at the bus stop under the bridge. A friend guide me through wechat since i dont read nor speak mandarin. From the bus stop i walked until the traffic lights, stop for a few squid bbq, then turn rights. Walk around 200meters i guess and i came to the gate of wuhan university. It was cold and chilly but the view is nice. I asked a student and showed him picture of the famous halls and he pointed the direction. The building is nice just like the picture, mysterious and a bit spooky haha, when i was there not much of people around and it was getting dark. I came across the cherry/ sakura tree also.. They looked pink but i wasn't close enough to see of some flowers are blooming or not. I think the area is nice to walk, it can be quite far and steep so you should prepare, but the ambience is nice.

The University was alright- not as beautiful as it claims to be!
My friends and I visited during the cherry blossom season and it was alright in comparison to its entrance fee. It's worth a trip if you've never seen cherry blossoms in your life. (Note that it will be very crowded!)

We had a brief visit and look at the student activities on venture into startup business. Big campus but unfortunately it was raining and windy. So not much outdoor exploration.
