Visiting Student Admissions

Worcester seeks mature, intellectually adventurous undergraduates who will thrive in the Oxford environment, where students have a great deal of academic and personal autonomy. Students from Harvard College, Princeton University, Swarthmore College, and Wellesley College may apply to Worcester directly. We welcome applications from students at all other American and Canadian institutions through IFSA-Butler. We welcome applications from students at Chinese students through Oxford Prospects. See below for further details and contact information.

Students may apply for:         Full Academic Year Study (October - June)
September Seminar + Full-Year Study (September - June)
                                                   Michaelmas-Term Study (October - December)
September Seminar + Michaelmas-Term Study (September - December)
                                                   Hilary-Term + Trinity-Term Study (January - June)

Based on advice from previous cohorts of visiting students, we strongly encourage prospective students to consider the full-year option (or even the September + full-year option). You should also know that places for the spring (Hilary and Trinity) tend to be especially competitive.

For the Academic Year 2022-2023, arrival and departure dates are as follows:

                                                   September Seminar + Michaelmas: 4 September - 3 December 2022
                                                   Michaelmas Only: 4 October - 3 December 2022

                                                   Hilary and Trinity: 10 January - 11 March 2023 AND 21 April - 17 June 2022

Full-Year students follow these same arrival and departure dates.

Worcester is happy to receive applications for students to stay in college for the vacations, once they have arrived in college. Vacation residence incurs additional per-night fees.

Applicants should know that visiting students follow the University's residency policy, which requires that students be based in college the entire term. Because many visiting students have internships or summer jobs, Worcester will permit such students to leave at the end of Trinity 7th Week (13 June), but no earlier. Students seeking such permission must contact the Director as soon as possible.

All applicants should feel free to contact the Programme Director with any questions they may have.

Please note that the Visiting Student Programme hosts undergraduates only; for information about how to apply as a postgraduate visiting student, please contact the Graduate Office on graduate.enquiries@worc.ox.ac.uk.

We regret that, at present, we cannot accept applications from students not currently studying at North American or Chinese institutions. For information about other opportunities to study at Oxford as an international student, see the University Admissions site for international students.
