Natural Born Killers stars Juliette Lewis and Woody Harrelson will reunite for the upcoming serial killer thriller Lips Like Sugar. The film marks the first collaboration between the two following Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers and sees the two on the other side of the law. Announced last July, Lips Like Sugar stars Harrelson and Owen Wilson as John Carr and Phil Harris, two homicide detectives investigating a possible serial killer case in 1984 Los Angeles during the Summer Olympic Games. Per Deadline, Erin Moriarty, Kathryn Newton, and Sasha Calle joined the cast alongside Lewis. Lewis will portray the mother of Newton's character, Tracy.

According to the film's official synopsis...

"The detectives' paths cross with Tracy Anderson and Andi Campos (Calle), a pair of teenage girls who form a fast and intense friendship. When Tracy disappears, Carr, Harris and Andi race a ticking clock to find her."

Lips Like Sugar is Brantley Gutierrez's feature directorial debut. He has previously directed numerous shorts and music videos, including Paul McCartney's Who Cares. Anthony Tambakis (Brothers) wrote the thriller. Will Butler, a former member of Arcade Fire and the Oscar-nominated composer behind Her, will compose the film's score. Harrelson, Gutierrez, and Tambakis produce alongside Russ Posternak, Kevin Chinoy, Francesca Silvestri, Jeremy Plager, Greg Lauritano, Kyle Schember, Anna Schwartz, and Zac Adams.

Production for the thriller is expected to commence this month.

Lips Like Sugar's Star-Studded Cast

In Natural Born Killers, Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis starred as Mickey and Mallory, a married couple who become serial murderers who are irresponsibly glorified by the mass media. Stone's film premiered in 1994, and despite a divisive critical reception, the film became a box office hit, grossing $110 million on a $34 million budget.

Lewis, whose credits include Cape Fear, Kalifornia, and What's Eating Gilbert Grape, has received praise for her recent work on series Welcome to Chippendales and the Showtime drama Yellowjackets. She received an Emmy nomination for Welcome to Chippendales and a Hollywood Critics Association TV Award nod for Best Actress in a Broadcast Network or Cable Drama Series for Yellowjackets.

Harrelson memorably portrayed a homicide detective in the first season of HBO's critically lauded anthology True Detective. His portrayal of Marty Hart earned Harrelson an Emmy nod for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (co-star Matthew McConaughey was also nominated). He received Emmy Awards for portraying Woody Boyd in Cheers and Frasier. His notable film credits include White Men Can't Jump, No Country for Old Men, Zombieland, and Triangle of Sadness. His roles in The People vs. Larry Flynt, The Messenger, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri garnered Academy Award nominations.

Owen Wilson is a frequent collaborator of Wes Anderson, working with the auteur on several films, including Bottle Rocket, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The French Dispatch, and The Royal Tenenbaums. His other notable credits include Midnight in Paris, Zoolander, The Wedding Crashers, and Loki. Harrelson and Wilson have collaborated on several projects, including Harrelson's directorial debut, Lost in London, and the animated feature Free Birds.

The film's young stars also boast impressive resumes: Newton has appeared in shows including Big Little Lies, Supernatural, and Halt and Catch Fire, and movies like Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Freaky, and Lisa Frankenstein.
