What travelers are saying
- Vicki2 contributionsVisually stunning. Emotionally evocative. Spiritually serene. Just an all-round amazing space. To be in the company of such learned Tibetan Buddhist Masters is both an honor and a blessing. Make sure to visit when you can participate in daily prayers, making your trip extra special! - Jenkins StailerIreland77 contributionsOverlook is beautiful. It takes a lot of physical effort to get up there, but when you do, it is a site to be seen! If you don’t like hiking or want a easy hike, this is not the hike for you. But if you’re willing to get up there, I’d recommend it!
FYI, the parking lot is always full and there is nowhere else to park, so get there early!Written February 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Park up at the overlook trailhead and walk down, it’s a bit treacherous to stop in the roadside. We missed being able to tour the property the day we were there, but did get a few pictures from the outside.Written March 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Douglas SWoodstock, NY45 contributionsIn a town with the WAAM, The Photography Center, The Byrdcliffe Guild and the Woodstock School of Art, the library is another icon of local culture. Great used book sales in warm months -- usually Saturday mornings -- and some great collections like that of the art room. Eventually, the library will be replaced by a new building, but, for now, enjoy the conviviality and range.Written February 23, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CTrinlerPhoenicia, NY2 contributionsAs a professional actor I have been fortunate enough to be cast in several of their shows and each time have been delighted by the caliber of actors I have had the oppotunity to work with, and by the thoughtful and smart direction of their artistic director Shauna Kanter. And I have been equally enthralled when being an audience member as well. The venue (the historic Byrdcliffe Theatre) is a unique, intimate space to see theatre. If you are in Woodstock, check them out!Written April 20, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

On Saturdays and Sundays from June through Labor Day and for two weekends every December, HSW welcomes visitors to its exhibits and gift shop. Exhibits focus on the artists, musicians, and writers who put Woodstock on the world-map, along with unknowns whose lives created community in a small town blessed abundantly by Mother Nature. HSW's gift shop offers prints of local artists' work, books and DVD's about the history of Woodstock, the Catskills and Hudson Valley, CDs, Woodstock chimes, local maple syrup, and jams . . . At Christmas, handmade gifts from cookies to aprons, mittens, hats, scarves, jewelry, skin care products . . . along with year-round offerings, make HSW a must-stop for unique gifts.
