Thursday's Paper Round leads on Manchester United's link with Wolves boss Gary O'Neil. Elsewhere, Arsenal are hoping to sign Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo amid rival interest from Barcelona this summer, French striker Olivier Giroud is close to a move to Serie A side AC Milan, and Manchester City could break a transfer record to sign MLS wonderkid Cavan Sullivan.

Man Utd linked to Wolves manager O’Neil

The Mirror believe that Wolves are aiming to ward off interest from Manchester United for their manager Gary O’Neil.
The Red Devils have been linked with England boss Gareth Southgate, and the job O'Neil is carrying out with Wolves also hasn't gone unnoticed.
The paper notes: “Wolves are ready to sit down and talk to Gary O'Neil about a fresh deal as Manchester United circle.
“The Midlands outfit appointed the former Bournemouth boss just days out from the start of the season and, following an exodus of players, were tipped to struggle. O'Neil though has them sat comfortably in mid-table and also made the last eight of the FA Cup.
“His work, on a relatively low budget, has seen his stock rise further with Wolves just six points off United themselves. He'd already impressed last term by keeping Bournemouth afloat and O'Neil's exploits have got Sir Jim Ratcliffe's attention as he looks for ways to bolster the coaching ticket at Old Trafford.
“O'Neil has been made aware of United's interest, with senior figures at the club wanting to discuss his plans for the future. A role at Old Trafford could be working under a head coach, which may or may not appeal, but Wolves themselves want to further reward their manager for his efforts.”

Arsenal to battle Barca for Cancelo

The Daily Express reports that Joao Cancelo is a target for Arsenal, which could cause trouble for Barcelona.
The Portuguese full-back is on loan at the Spanish giants, but Arsenal could offer him the chance to return to the Premier League.
The paper states: “Arsenal can ‘complicate’ Joao Cancelo’s future with Mikel Arteta ready to complete another deal with Manchester City, reports in the Spanish press claim. The Gunners could attempt to persuade Cancelo to reject offers of a permanent move from Barcelona in favour of a switch to north London.
“Cancelo joined Barca on loan from City last summer. His relationship with manager Pep Guardiola is widely reported to have broken down, seemingly ruling out a return to the reigning Premier League champions at the end of the season.
“Arsenal may strengthen at full-back in the summer transfer window despite signing Jurrien Timber last year. Cancelo fits the profile of full-back preferred by Arteta - confident in possession and able to move into a midfield position when his side have possession.
“The Gunners therefore plan to ‘complicate’ Barca’s permanent move for the 29-year-old defender. The La Liga giants were hoping to extend the Portugal international’s stay beyond the end of the season after a fine campaign on loan in Spain.”

Giroud close to Los Angeles FC move

The Sun believes that AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud could be on his way to Los Angeles FC.
The former Arsenal man could leave on a deal that would run until the end of next year.
The paper writes: “AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud is set to join MLS side Los Angeles FC in a permanent transfer.
“The 37-year-old was first linked with the club back in October.
“Giroud's proposed contract will be valid until December 2025.
“The Frenchman is yet to officially sign, but his deal is close to being completed.
“Giroud has spent the last three years with AC Milan.”

Man City close in on USA youngster

Manchester City are close to wrapping up the signature of Cavan Sullivan of Philadelphia, in what could be a record-breaking deal.
The Mail believes that the 14-year-old could command a transfer fee in excess of $20 million (£15.82 million).
The paper explains: “Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign American wonderkid Cavan Sullivan, 14, from Philadelphia Union in the most expensive homegrown MLS transfer of all time, according to reports.
“Sullivan, widely considered one of the best young prospects in world soccer, has also been attracting attention from Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain after showcasing his potential in Philadelphia's youth setup.
“Mail Sport revealed back in January that City were leading the race for the attacking midfielder's signature, and now they appear to have come out on top.
“While the fee City have agreed to pay is currently unclear, the current record for an outgoing homegrown transfer in MLS was the $20 million German team Augsburg spent to sign American striker Ricardo Pepi from FC Dallas in 2022.”
