Career Notes
- Challenged WBA Junior Middleweight Champion Julio Cesar Vasquez on August 21, 1994, and lost by a 12-round unanimous decision. It was Wright's first defeat after 25 consecutive victories.
- Defeated Bronco McKart by a 12-round split decision to win the WBO Junior Middleweight Championship on May 17, 1996. Wright made three successful title defenses before losing the belt to Harry Simon by a 12-round majority decision on August 22, 1998.
- Challenged IBF Junior Middleweight Champion Fernando Vargas on December 4, 1999, and lost by a 12-round majority decision.
- Defeated Robert Frazier by a 12-round unanimous decision to win the vacant IBF Junior Middleweight Championship on October 10, 2002. Wright made four successful title defenses before defeating WBA & WBC Super Welterweight Champion Shane Mosley by a 12-round unanimous decision to unify the 154-lb titles on March 13, 2004.
