What do I need to get to actually play this? Guitar and something to connect it to PC?
Real tone cable has that annoying static noise, I would suggest a decent audio interface+ guitar if you're serious about it

Yep, you can get a guitar cable with a USB connector, like the branded Rocksmith RealTone cable. Or you can use an external audio interface like a Focusrite Scarlett or similar Edit: using an external interface is not intended and can be finicky, so the Guitar to USB cable is the safest bet.
How accessible you reckon learning this stuff may be for someone with no guitar experience? I remember hearing people say Rocksmith is pretty decent to get into playing guitar.
It's perfect for beginners. Definitely play some of the arcade modes too, it'll teach you a ton about tabs, and general guitar fret location familiarization.
I think it's probably best for a complete beginner actually. Speaking as an experienced guitar player, all I get out of Rocksmith is a fun way to get some practice in or make a game out of learning a song (which I really like). As a beginner, I imagine you would get a lot more out of it. I would say it's not a bad way to get started on the instrument by having this software to help you through the initial phases of the learning process, which can be a bit of a slog for some people. You may find it rewarding.
That's pretty cool to hear, I often have a hard time feeling engaged or figuring things out so having things "narrowed" down may be what I need. I may be giving it a go soon.
I'm not an absolute beginner but this release makes me want to pick up my guitar again. Gamefying my practice is something I can totally get behind
I have been playing for just 10 months and honestly it's been a joy. I thought at 30, maybe I'm not gonna learn any new skills and there's some classic songs I loved in my youth that I can nearly 100% and all it takes is time and practice. Set aside about an hour or two a week and you'll end up surprising yourself.

I tried looking it up but seems kinda complicated. Did you follow any specific guide to hook up your interface to rocksmith??
Yes, it's straight forward enough, you need to use RS Audio, which you can get from github here: https://github.com/mdias/rs_asio
You paste them into the game directory, and then there's a configuration file that you need to edit for your specific interface and setup.

I think it needs to be the steam version and this isn't that one? I have copied everything and I think I have the right settings but it doesn't detect my guitar
You can use anything with a usb audio interface. I've used a zoom h6, line 6 hd500, and a bias spark, they all worked fine. They even let you use the built in microphone, but it's a bit hard to detect notes. My rocksmith cable no longer works.
I just use this simple Behringer Audio Interface, works flawlessly for me.

I have this one too, never tried it in 2014 but it’s good for rock smith plus and neuraldsp. I just wish it had custom drivers so I can actually play videos on YouTube or some other audio while also using neural.
i'm a year late, but it HAS a custom native driver, just look up in google "Behringer UM2 legacy driver"
I think I actually found it not much longer after that post but it gave me problems. I don’t remember what the problems were but it was enough to go back to asio4all. I still need to get a better one at some point considering the options in the $100 range nowadays.
I play the game in disconnected mode, it lets me play using my fender amplifier by layering the game audio over using aux to the amp and doesn't tell me that I've missed all notes.
Guitar and Real Tone cable or microphone (not recommended tho), but you can also mod the game to use audio interface

This is Rocksmith, it uses a real instrument.
Guitar and a usb connector. You can use the 3.5mm jack but you'll need a bunch of software to not blow up your computer speakers
If you have any sort of ASIO enabled audio interface I'd strongly recommend using rs_asio. Works flawlessly, just a bit of config work.

I also use Ultimate Guitar sometimes but Rocksmith's tabs are more visual and offer more information. They are also more accurate, specially the official ones.
Plus there are other practical features that the game offers even if you don't connect your guitar.
This is fucking incredible. For those who don’t know, Ubisoft recently released Rocksmith+, a subscription service version of Rocksmith with an awful library. When they released that version of the game they updated Rocksmith 2014 breaking all custom songs and mods. The only fix currently is a beta branch that they could revoke access to at any time.
They updated the 2014 and removed denuvo a few months ago. That's where this crack comes from, it works for me out the gate as is.
This is not really true. They indeed broke the game and the "fix" was going to the beta branch, which was the previous release. They did fix the game though. I have been playing it with no issues since then, with mods, custom songs and all.

Yes, you can. Already tried all the CDLC I downloaded, you just need to buy Cherub Rock if you have the legit version. Otherwise, just download the .parsac you need and that's it.
Actually, if you know what you are doing you don't need Cherub Rock. Those clowns at CustomsForge never realized that they COULD have used the SongID for Rocksmith itself rather than Cherub Rock. All of my customs use the former and work perfectly on everyone's Rocksmith.
I am shocked that that's the case - but then again I spent about an hour today getting CDLC and DLC working on the Mac Version. Took some finessing but literally able to play nearly every DLC song thanks to this repack and cobbling together a few patches.
Other comments in this thread say that the version this crack is based off of is the latest. If that’s the case modding and custom songs will be unavailable.
NOT true! You do NOT have to use the beta branch to use CDLC! That was true the first couple of weeks. NOT true anymore!
But it is great to be free of their whims. Especially when you have created over 4500 bass customs, including over 3000 "no bass" (in the audio) versions.

i had the old crack you definitely could have all DLC but custom songs would not load. are you running the game with the crack and using custom songs or are you spreading disinformation.

From left field. I have it legit but it was always cat n mouse with updates breaking the cracked dlc songs. Itll be good to have a standalone offline so I dont have to keep switching accounts on other pc either.

Until very recently you had to own the game and some cherub rock add on to get it to work, I tried getting it working but no luck as I'm not too smart. Unfortunately I deleted my old 2014 version when I installed a new OS and could no longer find a working version

No mate this is the new remastered version, I had an old pirate in 2015 or so and had been playing it for years, I wiped my pc and reinstalled windows and since then I haven't been able to find a copy of the old one and have been waiting for this one to come out. If you don't believe any of my previous posts I suggest deleting your copy and trying to find and reinstall one. You'll soon eat your hat

It's a VERY, VERY poor way to learn guitar! You want to learn new songs? Fine. Great for that. Want to learn to play very poorly with shitty technique? Rocksmith. But do NOT use this to learn guitar or you'll spend 10 times more time learning to play correctly. This software has been out for a decade. Name one known guitarist that learned how to play using Rocksmith. You can't.
I want to learn some songs, not start a band.

I have had this installed for years with some updates (but I'm sure very outdated) and using the real tone cable and it has worked great, besides some occasional windows volume control tweaking. (Usually when changing OS's) Regarding that comment about static, I only get that when plugging in the cable, and sometimes my 70's guitar has more noticeable electric hum vs 2000 era, but that's probably due to age/wiring. And if possible, try using your slowest USB port. I find it behaves better on USB 2 vs 3.x ports.
All DLC and customs have worked fine, however every learning mini games (gone whalin) and such crash 100% of the time when exiting the mini game. Does this version behave the same? And does this version allow drag and drop songs CDLC Custom Forge user content, into the dlc folder? Might try to install this version to see before wiping out my current installed version, if it lets me have both on.
I'm trying to install it next to the legit one as well. Did it work for you ?

I have the legit version on my Steam and I am seriously considering just cracking it for the DLC. I usually only crack games to test them out and buy them on Steam if I like them enough. In Rocksmiths case though the community has been completely handled like trash by Ubisoft. First of all with the new addition of Rocksmith + they literally did the first update to RS 2014 in 2 years breaking the game. With a workaround we were able to play again but now they have decided to not put anything of the old RS + DLC on sale anymore.
Really shitty move which was also expected by a company like Ubisoft, therefore thank you for this !
You can get cracked DLC on your legit copy without using CreamAPI easily as long as you own Cherub Rock legit.

The way custom songs (and cracked DLC) work is each song not in the base game is given an internal ID that matches a piece of DLC. Cherub Rock is the de facto standard ID that every modded song has. So people will take the legit DLC and change their IDs to Cherub Rock so they will appear in game as long as you own Cherub Rock on your account.
You will have to find the songs on your own, usually through an already cracked version of the game. But I remember finding a separate download at one point.

Yes, this will exist in a separate directory once installed, they won't affect each other.
Does anyone know how to get the rocksmith 1 songs? They're compatible with the 2014 version, but some of the songs are not even purchasable anymore because their licensing expired, like freebird. I haven't been able to find a torrent for them and they have some great songs. If anyone know how to get them please let me know.
