History

Wild Rivers has been a cherished part of the community since its inception in July 1986, rising from the grounds of the former Lion Country Safari. In its inaugural year, wave pools were yet to make a splash, but by 1987, Wild Rivers made history with the country’s first side-by-side wave pool. Over its 27-year legacy, attractions like The Abyss, Chaos, The Patriot, Bazooka Bowls, and Buccaneer Bay were introduced, drawing in over 10 million guests and earning a reputation as one of the nation’s top waterparks. As Orange County’s largest youth employer, Wild Rivers became synonymous with exceptional service and safety, leading the City of Irvine to entrust us with the land for a new Wild Rivers.

The new Wild Rivers spans nearly 20 acres—50% larger than before—and supplemented the park with four innovative 6-person family raft rides, among a diverse array of waterpark experiences including both open and enclosed body slides, mat races, bowls, and a water coaster, to name a few. Children can enjoy kiddie slides, interactive play elements, and a massive 30-foot play structure with a 500-gallon tipping bucket. Looking ahead, we’re poised for growth with plans to extend our park by an additional 3 acres.

Our commitment to guest satisfaction remains steadfast. We believe a fun day involves not just enjoying the rides, but also experiencing them with minimal waits. We strive to create a premium experience for all, aiming to elevate Wild Rivers to become the best waterpark in California and the premier waterpark in the nation.
