splendido disco per i miei gusti musicali. ottima kansas city blues scritta da ernest tubb nel 1935 ma sono pregevoli anche tutte quelle scritte da wayne hancock
Like all of the Hancock CDs I own, I love this one. Music is much like all the others with the exception being that there are drums on a couple of tracks. the drums are neither a plus or a minus, as Wayne's music is so rhythmic without them....and this comes from a drummer!
Simple down home lyrics, mostly about "the road", from a voice much like Hank Williams III. Well played tunes with hot solos by country's finest guitar and steel players. This CD has a few piano and trombone tunes in addition. A nice addition, as these are all great players.
I ran sound for his group last summer (2013), and am doing it again in a couple of weeks. Can't wait,..these guys are just great to work with, and they just sound great right out of the box..
My favorite Wayne CD is still "Ride", as Wayne himself recommended it to me, when I asked him, "which would you recommend for someone new to your music?" I still haven't got Viper or Tulsa, but they are on my list.
Once again, Hancock has given honky-tonk fans something to love. His voice is spot on, his arrangments are superb, his song choices are fantastic. I have just about worn out his welcome with everyone in my house, I've played it so many times. My parents raised me up with Hank Williams, Webb Pierce, etc. and I wish they were alive today so they could enjoy Wayne Hancock's cds with me. One fantastic cd......buy it, you won't be disappointed
There is a quality to Wayne Hancock's music that is difficult to describe. The restless feel of the southwest, the precision of the music, making it hard to believe that it was recorded live in studio; yet understanding that it was the only way it could sound so perfect. Someday Hancock will be recognized as the genius he is. Wild, Free & Reckless is his best effort, but his first and second were also in a class by themselves. You've got to here Wayne Hancock.
