Did Julius Caesar Have Any Kids?
Julius Caesar had two biological children and one adoptive child. His eldest child, Julia Caesaris, was born around 76 B.C. to Julius Caesar and his wife Cornelia Cinna. He had his second biological child, Caesarion, with Cleopatra in 47 B.C.
Caesarion was merely a nickname; the boy’s full name was Ptolemy XV Philopator Philometor Caesar. He adopted his last child, Octavian, in his will, and Octavian, later known as Augustus, became the first Roman emperor. His other children did not have such successful endings. Julia was married off to Caesar’s eventual nemesis, Pompey, and she died in labor, while Caesarion died after the civil war between Octavian and Marc Antony, probably on the orders of his adoptive brother, who did not want any rivals for dynastic power.
