In its latest publishing acquisition, Berlin-based BMG Rights Management has acquired Evergreen Copyrights, which owns a diverse catalog of songs by Nick Drake, Tupac Shakur, Bill Monroe, Warren Zevon and J.J. Cale, among others.
Terms of the deal were not announced.
Evergreen was founded in 2006 by former Hamstein Music chief executive officer Richard Perna, ex-Miramax and Dimenson music exec David Schulhof and attorney Joel Katz, and holds more than 65,000 copyrights.
Nashville-based operation’s songs include “You Are So Beautiful,” “Werewolves of London,” “Cocaine,” “U Can’t Touch This,” “Blue Moon of Kentucky” and “Pink Moon.”
BMG Rights Management, a joint venture of media giant BMG and equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR), has rolled up four major publishing concerns in the past year; it previously bought Cherry Lane and Adage IV in the U.S. and Stage Three Music in the U.K.

Equity unit Trilantic Capital Partners, which held Evergreen’s assets, will acquire a single-digit interest in BMG Rights Management upon completion of the transaction.
