I like Shetland ponies. They are unique in their size, personalities, and appearance. Do you have a favorite?
Edit: I want to thank everyone who posts pictures and stories of animals for us to enjoy.

(26,211 posts)Forgot to say why: They look like something prehistoric. They're so cute! They're endangered and need our help and attention!!

(28,715 posts)in the family wanted him .no one would adopt him because he such horrible language. He was so bad they had to put him in another room because he was so vulgar and he upset lotsa potential adopters.

(21,377 posts)that you could not tell the difference! It scared my sister so badly it made her jump.
The bird's name was Joe, my sister's name is Jo and the damn bird was asking Joe if he wanted some lettuce. The grandmother was not in the house and my sis thought the house was haunted (she had not yet met the bird)

(958 posts)good mimics, and mynahs are in the starling family.
Fifty (or so) years ago, the Museum of Natural History in New York had a small live animal display on the second floor.
They had a starling that was raised near a fire house, and, - you guessed it- the sound of a siren was heard all throughout the day.

(9,436 posts)"As a friend to the children commend me the Yak.
You will find it exactly the thing:
It will carry and fetch, you can ride on its back,
Or lead it about with a string.
The Tartar who dwells on the plains of Thibet
(A desolate region of snow)
Has for centuries made it a nursery pet,
And surely the Tartar should know!
Then tell your papa where the Yak can be got,
And if he is awfully rich
He will buy you the creatureor else he will not.
(I cannot be positive which.)"

(151,896 posts)so entertaining to watch
debm55
(13,186 posts)they are coming down a tree and see us coming, they will stop, upside down and wait for us to pass. When I was on Facebook , I was known as the squirrel lady as I posted pics of them all the time. Do you have the red(sable) or the brown ones in your area? Yes, I enjoy their little tricks and how they scamper through the yards and up the trees. Also, like the cuteness factor.
Skittles
(151,896 posts)I toss them peanuts, I love watching them work a peanut in the shell with their little hands!
debm55
(13,186 posts)feed them shelled peanuts. The squirrels will walk right up and take a peanut from the person's hand. What I haven't seen are chipmunks. They used to be all over but we have coyotes in the neighbor. I hope they don't do it with the squirrels. though squirrels seem smarter.
