So what will Alex the Sandman Baker do next do we think? He would be perfect as a snooker commentator: the country's dullest presenter talking about the world's dullest sport. It's a match made in heaven!

Don't Know, Don't Care! As long as it's something thet keeps him off television.

Wait - last night wasn’t his last show? He’s not leaving until the spring? Couldn’t he keep the tears until then?

Tell you who would be good- Jon Kay who sometimes stands in on 'Breakfast'.

He won't get it, as he isn't a big enough name, but he knows how to interview all sorts of people in a relaxed way, without making it all about him.

Really good suggestion, he has the right tone, nature and would be a safe choice.

Please, please, please not Ore. If it's a female replacement then that's pushing the female empowerment agenda too far, unless Alex gets replaced later by a male. I guess it will have to be someone bland so anyone from BBC Breakfast, but it would be good if they spiced things up a bit, the show desperately needs it.

They should do what they did with Alex and bring in someone relatively unknown on the cheap.

Thats what the BC should be doing for all their shows, not paying silly money for presenters they think people like but actually annoy atleast half their audience.

So someone else who started on CBBC maybe. It don't leave many options.

How about Karim off Strictly? Might be a bit young but he's bound to move into grown up telly now.

I’ve always seen The One Show as being the mirror image of Breakfast - two bland, boring programmes that bookend the working day. Matt Baker’s alter ego is Dan “Mr Personality” Walker. The BBC will be looking for someone who’s a safe pair of hands.

Most likely will be someone like Ore Oduba.

Someone like Simon Thomas would be a good option though if theywant to go down the ex-Blue Peter route again.

    Has to be Alan Partridge.
With Richard Madeley. The agenda seems to be same sex at the moment, so why not two presenters from the same distant planet.

This would genuinely be TV gold. Like if the BBC had balls they would do this just for the huge daily ratings.

If only......I’m pretty much a casual part-time viewer but I’d tune in every night to see these two together! 😂

If it has to be just one person what about Donal Skehan. I know he’s a chef/cook but I think he’s a great presenter.

I wouldn’t be against Patrick Kielty or Steve Jones (although him and Alex have a past don’t they??!). There aren’t that many male presenters I really like.
