Élite Season 4 premiered on Netflix today, once again plunging the sexy teens of Las Encinas into a confusing murder mystery. However this time around, the murder victim themselves were the twist.

**Élite Season 4 Spoilers Ahead!**

At the end of the Élite Season 4 premiere, we learn that the girl who almost died in by the Lake Club is none other than new girl Ari (Carla Díaz). The prime suspects for pushing her into the water seem to be our boys Guzmán (Miguel Bernardeau) and Samuel (Itzan Escamilla). As the season progresses, we learn Guzmán and Samu’s friendship came under strain when they both fell for the new princess of Las Encinas. But would jealousy drive either of our heroes to attempt murder? Is what happened to Ari just the latest in a string of misunderstandings in Élite? No and yes!

As it happens, neither boy tried to kill Ari. In fact, the Las Encinas crew find themselves covering up a wholly different murder at the end of Élite Season 4. And to be honest? This person totally deserved to die.

So who was the killer in Élite Season 4? Who pushed Ari into the lake? Who was the real murder victim? And what does the end of Élite Season 4 mean for Élite Season 5? Here’s the Élite Season 4 ending explained…

Who is the killer in Élite Season 4?

Believe it or not, but for once the detectives in Élite might have been on to something by narrowing down the suspects to Samuel and Guzmán.

No, Samuel was not on the docks. He really didn’t see Ari’s drunk message begging him to meet her after the New Years Eve fireworks. But Guzmán did. AThat not only precipitated the boys’ drunken brawl at the Lake Club, but wound up pulling Guzmán to the docks to confront Ari. And Guzmán did wind up committing murder. Only he wound up killing who was really attacking Ari…

Who attacked Ari in Élite Season 4?

The Élite Season 4 finale reveals that Armando (Andrés Velencoso) was the one who attacked Ari. When Ari sees Armando bothering her sister Mencía (Martina Cariddi) at the Lake Club, she understands that Rebe (Claudia Salas) has been telling the truth about Mencía falling into a life of prostitution for the powerful man. Not only that, but seeing him bother Mencía inspires Ari to confront him. The older man soon overpowers the petite teen and throttles her within an inch of her life.

Guzman arrives to chase Armando off. Ari begs him to go after Armando for her and teen nobly does. However, when Ari attempts to get up on her feet, she wobbles on the docks. (I mean, she’s clearly concussed, drunk, and wearing stilettos, so it’s not shocking).

So while Armando attacked Ari, he did not push her into the water. Still…he would answer for his sins.

Who is the real murder victim in Élite Season 4?

The end of Élite Season 4 reveals that after Guzman chases Armando down, the two men get into a fight in the Lake Club’s boat house. Armando has the upper hand, but Guzman gets his hands on a celebratory flare gun. He shoots Armando in the back and then panics, looking for Ari. When he can’t find her, he tells Samuel and Rebe what happened. They swear to keep it a secret and help Guzman dispose of the body.

The final shot of Élite Season 4 is of Armando’s corpse, weighted down in the lake.

What does the Élite Season 4 ending mean for Élite Season 5? Did Omar and Ander break up?

The end of Élite Season 4 sees Guzmán fleeing the country in the most posh way possible. He leaves school after fall term to backpack around the world with Ander (Aron Piper). This suggests that neither Guzman nor Ander will be in Élite Season 5 and that Guzmán will be out of the country once things heat up in the murder investigation. (It also puts the onus on Rebe and Samuel to cover his tracks.)

So what about Ander and Omar (Omar Ayuso)? Did they break up? Briefly, but they reunite towards the end of Élite Season 4. If anything, they agree to go on a break. Ander will explore the world, Omar will finish up school, and they will agree to have an open relationship while they are apart. If anything, their tense throuple with Patric (Manu Rios) seemed to solidify their love for each other and the notion that sex can just be sex. Ain’t love grand?

Elsewhere, Cayetana (Georgina Amorós) launched her fashion career and inspired Phillippe (Pol Granch) to stand up to his royal mother. However it seems that Phillippe’s French voicemail to ex Elodie confirms — as did his actions in the limo — that he did take advantage of the girl. He tells Elodie that she has a recording of him admitting to sexual assault and that she can do with it what she likes. So look for that to spark drama next season as Phillippe seems earnest in his desire to make amends and better his behavior.

Also: Armando may be dead, but he was a powerful man with violent friends. Expect them to want revenge. Maybe the one good spot of news? Mencía came clean to father Benjamín (Diego Martín) about everything that went down. Maybe we’ll learn next season if the strict principal of Las Encinas really can make any problem go away with just a phone call…
