Background

Andrew Eppley Shue was born on February 20, 1967, in Wilmington, DE. His father, James William Shue, was a lawyer and real estate developer who served as president of the International Food and Beverage Corporation and was involved in Republican politics, having run for the United States Congress in New Jersey unsuccessfully once. His mother was a descendent of Pilgrim leader William Brewster, and his father hailed from Pennsylvania and was of German heritage.

Shue's sister Elisabeth is an actress, and he co-starred with her in The Karate Kid in one of his first (uncredited) film appearances.

Marriage, Divorce, and Kids

Andrew Shue's first marriage was to Jennifer Hageney, who made a living as a floral designer. Andrew and Jennifer's marriage produced three sons named Nate, Aidan, and Wyatt. His relationship with Jennifer ended in 2008 when the couple decided to get a divorce. The final day of the relationship marked the end of 14 years of marriage. While soap operas entertained older ladies during the daytime, there wasn't a soap opera available at night to engage the younger demographic. Shows like Melrose Place tried to fill this gap with more suggestive storylines than their daytime counterparts.

On the show, Andrew fell in love with an actress named Courtney Thorne-Smith. The pair was a couple on and off the screen. In the show's storyline, she ended up with another character instead of staying with Andrew's character. Their romance was mainly fueled by feelings they had working on the show together. Once the show ended, the chemistry between them ended.
