HyunA (현아) is a South Korean singer-songwriter and rapper under At Area. She is a former member of the groups Wonder Girls, 4minute, 4Tomorrow, Trouble Maker and Triple H.
She made her solo debut on January 4, 2010 with the single "Change".
Career[]
2007: Wonder Girls[]
HyunA originally began her idol career by debuting as a member of the girl group Wonder Girls. The group's first mini-album, The Wonder Begins, was released on February 13, 2007.
In July, her parents removed her from the group due to health concerns, particularly chronic gastroenteritis and fainting spells.[2]
2009: Debut with 4minute[]
On May 14, 2009, she was revealed as the first member of Cube Entertainment's girl group 4minute.[3] The group officially debuted on June 15 with their first digital single "Hot Issue".
2010: Solo debut[]
She made her solo debut on January 4, 2010 with her first single "Change".
2011: Debut with Trouble Maker[]
On November 24, 2011, it was announced HyunA would be debuting in a new co-ed duo, Trouble Maker, alongside Jang Hyunseung.[4] Their debut self-titled mini album was released on December 1.
2016: 4minute's disbandment[]
On June 13, 2016, Cube Entertainment announced 4minute would be disbanding after all of the members (excluding HyunA) had decided not to renew their contracts.[5][6]
2017: Debut with Triple H[]
On May 1, 2017, she debuted as a member of the co-ed sub-unit Triple H, alongside PENTAGON members Hui and E'Dawn, with the mini album 199X.
2018: Departure from Cube Entertainment[]
Following the news of HyunA and DAWN's relationship, on September 13, 2018, Cube Entertainment announced they would be terminating both artists' contracts, citing "lack of trust".[7] Both artists' departures were confirmed on October 15 and November 14 respectively.[8][9]
2019–2020: New agency, hiatus[]
On January 27, 2019, PSY announced that HyunA, alongside DAWN, had signed on with his new agency P NATION.[10] Her first release under the agency, "Flower Shower", was released on November 5.
Due to her worsening health conditions, HyunA went on an indefinite hiatus.[11]
2021: Return with I'm Not Cool[]
On January 8, 2021, PSY officially confirmed HyunA's return to be on the 28th via an Instagram post.[12] On January 18, HyunA released an album concept video. Several concept photos, along with her seventh mini album's name, I'm Not Cool, were released on January 21.[13]
2022–2023: Nabillera, departure from P NATION, new agency[]
On July 12, 2022, P NATION announced that HyunA would be returning on July 20 with the mini album Nabillera.[14]
On August 29, P NATION announced that both she and DAWN would be leaving the agency after deciding not to renew their contracts.[15]
On December 9, it was reported that HyunA met with MORE VISION to sign a contract with them, though nothing has been confirmed as of this moment.[16]
On November 6, 2023, At Area confirmed that HyunA had signed with the agency.[17] She released a performance video under the new agency later that day.[18]
2024: Attitude[]
On April 9, 2024, it was confirmed that HyunA recently finished recording for her upcoming comeback, scheduled for May.[19] On April 11, pre-order for her first EP Attitude opened, scheduled for release on May 2.[20]

Relationship[]
HyunA revealed she has been dating DAWN since May 2016.[21] On February 3, 2022, they revealed that they have been engaged.[22]
On November 30, 2022, HyunA and DAWN announced that they have broken up.[23]
On January 27, 2023, it was reported that HyunA and DAWN have gotten back together, although never confirmed.[24][25]
On January 18, 2024, dating rumors arose between HyunA and former Highlight member Yong Junhyung after both posted a photo of them holding hands. In response, their agencies stated that it is difficult to confirm as it is their private lives.[26] However, on the 19th, Junhyung confirmed the reports through a message on the fan messaging app fromm.[27]
Health[]
On November 28, 2019, HyunA posted a letter on Instagram where she opened up about her health. She revealed that, in 2016, she was diagnosed with depression and panic disorder. Additionally, she revealed she experienced fogginess of vision and collapsing. Thinking they were symptoms of her panic disorder, she ignored it. However, after seeing a doctor, she received a brain wave test that concluded a diagnosis of vasovagal syncope.[28]
