Barbers Hill Independent School District continues to provide strong salaries for teachers. Last week, Chron.com revealed that the district, which is located between Baytown and Anahuac, provided the highest-average base salary for high school teachers (per district) in the Houston area.

And records from the Texas Education Agency also show that the district leads the way in teacher salaries for the middle and elementary school teachers as well.
The data, which covers the 2018-19 fiscal school year, shows what school districts around the Houston area pay their middle and elementary school teachers, on average.

A previous Chron.com report found that Barbers Hill ISD pays its high school teachers the most, averaging a base salary of $72,744.
On average, middle school teachers in the district earn $71,520.

Of the 38 districts examined by Chron.com, the average elementary teacher's salary, by district, came in at $58,889.11. Due to the nature of the available data, one grade overlapped with the numbers related to the average middle school teacher salaries and the average elementary school teacher salaries (sixth grade).
For middle school teachers, that average was $58,729.68. The highest grade level for middle school teacher salaries was the eighth grade.
The average base pay for a middle school teacher (grades 9-12) in Texas amounted to $54,315, per TEA data. The average base pay for a elementary school teacher in Texas amounted to $53,371 per TEA data.
