What happens when you buy Alcatraz tickets at a website other than the official?
A coworker local to SF sent me this link to buy tickets https://www.alcatrazislandtickets.com/ . I was offline and when I saw it all of my other coworkers had already bought their tickets there.
I mean, look at that banner, it just seems super fake and also I know that the official link is https://www.cityexperiences.com/san-francisco/city-cruises/alcatraz/
What is going to happen to their tickets? Are they actually non existent or did they just buy them through a re-seller?
People buy tickets through the fake sites everyday and they have been there for a decade, I have always assumed they are simply a re-seller.
Can they contact Hornblower and confirm the reservation?
that doesn't look super sketchy it's likely just a re-seller, there are plenty making bank off of unsuspecting tourists...and apparently unsuspecting locals aswell
There are outfits who purchase legit tickets and resell, usually at a markup or promise of some kind of special tour when it is the same exact ticket everyone else purchased. Best case your friend bought a legit ticket for more $ than through the official concessionaire Alcatraz Cruises. Worst case it is a fake. If she is willing to try to get a refund and the seller doesn’t comply, your friend might want to contact her credit card company and challenge the charge on the grounds it was a misleading sale.
What ever ended up happening to the tickets? I just did the same thing..
Did it work for you?
Yea it did. Seems like they buy it from the official one and just emails you the ticket. You can go to the official site to check to look up your tickets.
