At home with the Hemsworths: Inside Chris, Liam and Luke's wild upbringing in remote Australia with their parents Craig and Leonie... years before they soared to global fame

The Hemsworth brothers are undoubtedly one of the most famous trios of siblings in the world.

But unlike some, Chris, Liam and Luke weren't born into Hollywood stardom, and instead enjoyed a humble upbringing in Australia alongside their doting parents Leonie and Craig.

The genetically blessed trio were born in Melbourne; their mother an English teacher, and their father a social-services counsellor.

When Liam - the youngest of the siblings - turned five, the gang uprooted and relocated to a remote cattle farm in Bulman in the Northern Territory, which Chris recalled was 'four-and-a-half hours from the nearest town'.

'My parents ran the community centre which doubled as a post office and grocery store,' he previously told The Telegraph. 'It was in the middle of nowhere.

'There were crocodiles and buffalo. I went to a school that was made up of 60 [Aboriginal] kids between the ages of five and 17, all mashed into two classrooms.'

When speaking about their upbringing on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2016, Luke, now 40, was asked if the trio had been raised 'basically like a pack of wild dingoes'.

'Yeah, the Hemsworth house of horrors!' he laughed. 'We’d wake up in the morning and literally say, ‘See ya, mum,’ and just disappear into the bush.

'I think as we got older, parents of kids we knew would gradually drop their kids off further and further away from our house.'

The family later moved to Phillip Island in Victoria, where they spent a lot of time surfing together as youngsters.

Yet as with most brothers, the gang would get into all sorts of wild arguments and fights over the years.

Speaking to Conan O’Brien in 2012, Liam, 31, said: 'I feel like that’s when you really get to know each other, when you give someone a good punch in the face.

'It’s one way of expressing love. That was how we did it in our house – "Hey, man, good to see you, here’s a punch in the face for you".'

Liam admitted he once threw a knife at Chris' head when he was eight years old, adding: 'It was just a warning. Like "if you mess with me, I’ll throw a knife at your head".'

Chris, 37, claims he and Luke also used to torment Liam with a BB gun, telling the Herald Sun: 'We made Liam put a motorbike helmet on and a couple of jumpers and some gloves and we said 'run' and we had to hunt him around the house.

'He didn't love that game as much as we did.'

Despite a wild upbringing, the three world-famous brothers are now closer than ever - and when Chris shot to fame in Hollywood, he sweetly decided to pay off his parent's debts.

Talking to The Independent in 2015, Liam said: '[My father] called my brother Chris back and said, "I don't know how to feel.

'"Since I left home, I have had debts and I thought I'd be paying them off until I died and have this weight hanging over me, and now to have them completely cleared".'

The gang share regular photos with Leonie - who recently turned 60 - and Craig, with fans going wild over their ever-youthful looks.
