MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Decatur Police Department arrested East Limestone High School’s head football coach on Monday afternoon, according to online jail records.

Decatur Police say Jeffrey Allan Pugh was pulled over on Sunday, May 22 at 10:40 p.m. on Highway 31 North. He was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and improper lane usage.

This is the second time Pugh has faced this set of charges. In July of 2020, however, his DUI charge was changed to reckless endangerment.

On Tuesday, a representative from Limestone County Schools stated, “This is an unfortunate personnel issue the district is dealing with. Mr. Pugh has been placed on administrative leave at this time.”

As well as Head Football Coach, Pugh is also listed as a P.E. Teacher on the East Limestone High School website.

As of Wednesday, May 25, Pugh was no longer listed as an inmate at the Morgan County Jail.
