The 2022 Venice Film Festival kicked off August 31 with an already star-studded red carpet. The fall festival launcher runs through September 10. Noah Baumbach’s “White Noise” made its world premiere as the Opening Night selection for the festival, marking the first Netflix film to ever open the annual festival in its 79 years…and meaning that Adam Driver, Greta Gerwig, Noah Baumbach, and Jodie Turner-Smith all stunned at the red carpet premiere.

Fellow Netflix feature “Blonde,” helmed by Andrew Dominik and adapted from Joyce Carol Oates’ portrait of late film icon Marilyn Monroe, is among the highly anticipated titles. Ana de Armas will surely remind us that “Some Like It Hot” when it comes to red carpet fashion, alongside co-stars Adrien Brody and Bobby Cannavale. Alejandro González Iñárritu’s first Netflix film and long-awaited return to Mexico, “Bardo,” additionally premieres.

And don’t worry, the “Don’t Worry Darling” cast came out in full swing with Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, and director Olivia Wilde gracing the world premiere for the film. International pop star Styles also penned the theme song for the film in five minutes flat, with rumors of a live performance happening somewhere along the Venice canals post-premiere.

The “Bones and All” cast, most notably Timothée Chalamet, Taylor Russell and Chloe Sevigny, left nothing to the imagination while representing Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino in the twisted cannibal love story.

Fashion and film icon Cate Blanchett brought high fashion to Venice while walking the red carpet for Todd Field’s “TÁR,” as Sadie Sink, Brendan Fraser, Darren Aronofsky, Joanna Hogg, and Colin Farrell also attend the festival. Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth are set to walk the red carpet as a couple, with LaBeouf promoting Abel Ferrara’s “Padre Pio” and Goth starring in Ti West’s “X” sequel, “Pearl.”

The 2022 Venice Film Festival jury is chaired by Julianne Moore, along with Mariano Cohn, Leonardo di Costanzo, Audrey Diwan, Leila Hatami, Kazuo Ishiguro, and Rodrigo Sorogoyen serving on the jury.
