Residents enjoy access to numerous parks, trails, and recreational activities, especially along the Huron River. Ann Arbor also hosts various festivals, events, and performances throughout the year, catering to a range of interests. Eating in Ann Arbor is a delightful experience, with a diverse range of culinary options to suit every taste. from cozy cafes to upscale restaurants, there's something for everyone. Additionally, Ann Arbor boasts a vibrant food scene with international cuisines, farm-to-table eateries, and vegetarian/vegan options. Overall, it's a dynamic and welcoming community with plenty to offer!
Ann Arbor is the major nexus of intellectual, cultural and sports life in Michigan. There are many cultural amenities, few theatres, three multi-screen movie venues, many large parks, planned outdoor activities, good schools, clear air. The city is essentially controlled by the state and the University, but a possessive nominal government exists. There are many good restaurants but no great ones. Crosswalks, outsized buses and bike lanes make travel within the city difficult. A2 officially hates cars and wants to make everything electric. Many excellent concerts occur here. Bars and breweries. abound. Big outdoor summer festivals occur, including a well-known Art Fair. Parking is always difficult. A2 is a Democratic stronghold. It has multiple topgrade medical facilities. Many professional retirees live here. It's easy to live here but it's one of Michigan's most expensive places. Unpretentousness is the dominant ethos, despite appearances. Change is both welcomed and damned.
Ann Arbor has been a great town for me as a college student. I feel safe throughout the town and I feel a happy, positive environment from the other people who live here. The city is accessible for everyone with great public transport and with the city being very walkable. The night-life is great with plenty of restaurants and bars to go to for any type of gathering you could want. It is a great midwestern city. The only critiques I have is that the crime appears to be fairly high based on rating and police presence. In my opinion, people who are arrested or get into trouble should have a harder way of getting back into the public. That would be the only policy I would suggest.
